How do I sort my disgusting self out?

I have gained a stone in a matter of months... I am so disgusted with myself! I lost 4st previously with Slimming World but it just wasn't sustainable enough to continue and my shopping bill was getting expensive so I've gone back to homemade meals with smaller portions. My problem is that in between meals I am constantly snacking on junk! Crisps, chocolate, chinois, croissants, biscuits, sweets that we get given at work... it's my fault. I feel bloated and feel like fucking shit. Tomorrow is the day I am starting again but I am going to follow my own lifestyle change! I can't afford to follow SW anymore so I am going to stop snacking on junk, sod the crisps, replace it with fruit instead and a yogurt to keep me full. Continue eating homemade meals but in smaller quantities rather than large (one enchilada instead of two, what I'd do!) I've tried MFP but too time consuming! I am going to do some exercise during the week as well. I just feel so shit. I can't believe I've gained a stone! Sad I only found out as I got a size 14 coat and it doesn't even fit me when I'm usually a size 12! What do you all to do follow a healthy lifestyle change to lose/maintain your weight?

The only thing that works for me is one apple a day as a snack small portions and having some treats on a Saturday. Have cut down to one or two alcoholic drinks each week. For me this has been the only way to lose it and keep it off

babysharkah · 15/12/2018 17:42

Don't follow sw!

As
Soon as you stop it goes tits up and then you pay to rejoin and so the cycle continues...

Skipuation · 15/12/2018 17:44

Have you looked at the no s diet plan? It's the most low key diet going and is easy ish to stick to.
Saying that I've fallen off the wagon myself and been eating too much junk. It sucks Flowers good luck.

BifsWif · 15/12/2018 18:05

I did MFP.

It’s time consuming at first but it soon becomes second nature and really taught me about portion sizes. I’m not strong enough to just go it alone!

LadyMarmyLard · 15/12/2018 18:08

Go back to MFP.
Invest the time.

Clearthinking · 15/12/2018 18:08

Don't eat breakfast, have 2 smaller meals and plenty of water. I eat 11am sandwich and bit of fruit. Tea, 5 ish, curry or meat and veg. Lost 3 stone

Same here, I've booked myself in for a gastric band at the end of January. My relationship with food is toxic.

Scotslasslivinginfrance · 15/12/2018 18:14

You are not disgusting.

Start with a little self love, recognise your triggers, make a plan, then make one change. Focus on that until it becomes a new habit and then introduce another change and so on.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 15/12/2018 18:45

Your not disgusting. You're human, I'm in a similar boat. My weight fluctuates from time to time and I'm often left feeling like this. I'm now coaching myself on the importance of self love. Whenever I feel bad about how I look or how much I weigh, I remind myself about my many other wonderful and unique qualities that I have and all the people that love me and how blessed I am in that.

Over Christmas, start meal planning, work out what you need to eat for your health and then your prepared for the new year. Make small changes like cutting out refined sugars and lowering your carb intake. That's what I'm doing over christmas. I've worked out that I eat far better when I meal plan and when I choose quality over quantity. When I buy quality I want to savour it and take my time and eat less as a result. When I buy low quality, I eat and eat because it tastes less satisfying and I need more for that 'buzz'.

I'm the same, haven't done slimming world, I need will power!! 2 and a bit stone heavier than I should be, what's mfp?

Have you tried low-carbing? You could always come and join us on the Bootcamp thread.,.

We're on week 9, but if you go back and read from week 1, you'll get the gist of it. It's got rid of my sugar cravings and I hardly ever snack now.

MillionScarletRoses · 15/12/2018 19:03

You won’t sort yourself out until you stop thinking of yourself as disgusting and unworthy of love. Sorry, but the weight problem is in one’s head and attitude first. Once you’ve fixed that and start treating yourself with respect and give yourself love you will stop shoving junk in your mouth as you are too good for that and deserve much better. You will stop force feeding yourself as you will not feel the need to self-punish.

For as long as you hate and detest yourself, all your efforts are on a hiding to nothing sorry, and you will self-sabotage at the first signs of improvement.

Please read Gillian Riley’s book Eating Less, Say Goodbye to Overeating. She explains it brilliantly. It is ultimately self-harm. People who are content and happy with themselves and in themselves do not self-harm.

WeeSausage · 15/12/2018 19:09

I've just revolutionised my eating habits. I was very like you. I cut out sugar (except the occasional piece of fruit) for two weeks. Then when I felt that was under control, I cut out snacks (nearly passed out on day 3!). Then when that was under control I cut down portion sizes to normal. I'm now slowly losing, but it feels very sustainable. No fancy diets, no weighing or measuring, no additional costs. It's just sensible eating. Good luck.
