No calorie counting or meal replacements etc. Just going a bit old school and eating less food by not eating between meals and keeping the meals to a reasonable size.

I reckon I'll lose weight this way. Anyone care to join me? Smile

Morning all. Bravo to those people who had a good week, and bravo also to those getting back on the wagon. I had a middling week, but have lost some weight and I’m feeling like I’m doing 75% ‘normal’ eating. I keep comparing what I’m doing to how I was before, which is really helping my state of mind - no relapses into guilt etc.

What’s the Gillian Riley book all about, jammies? I read one about intuitive eating and it made sense at the time, but I didn’t actually act on it.

joy, the only way I can not eat after dinner is not to have anything in, and also to be in a pact with DP that neither of us will go out to the shop.

Hi face its a book i read a few months back. Really resonated with me but in my post natal cranky new baby daze I never really put it into practice. She has very practical advice about getting off the yoyo diet treadmill and rewiring how you think about it all. Do look it up...thinking of treating myself to a copy of it for the handbag. I am hoping to carry this all the way through the holiday season bit ambitious probably! Am also aiming to up the exercise.

MissElaineNeus · 26/11/2018 18:20

I'm doing a similar thing, tracking sensible habits with the Streaks app on my phone. No snacks is one of them, and I certainly could do with cutting my portion size down a bit too - though I find it the hardest thing to track / know if I've done it / am I cheating myself, IYKWIM.

Chrissmasjammies · 26/11/2018 18:35

Day 1 over & what I love about this way of eating is success is immediate ...you don't have to wait for x number of pounds down on the scales. Not a perfect day but miles better than yesterday. 2 meals I after dinner snack. I must look up that app Miss Elaine!

Mailfuckoff · 26/11/2018 19:23

Not so good today but what I like is tomorrow is another day and I can start again

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 27/11/2018 09:50

Hello all, popping in to see how people are getting on. I’m definitely eating less, and perversely I’m quite enjoying feeling actually hungry and seeing how long I can last without caving. I’m eating breakfast and then seeing if I can get to 12.15 without anything else, which means I’ve successfully swerved the morning snack because it’s lunch time. The morning is definitely the most risky time for snack inhalation for me.

Hi face all is good here although only day 2. My only snacks are coffee with one sugar and that's a battle for another day! Like you I don't mind the mild hunger pangs for a while and the bloated feeling after the weekend is receding. I know 100% I feel soooo much better when not over eating and will try verrrrrry hard not to get derailed.
@Mailfuckoff hope you are having a better day today??

Mailfuckoff · 27/11/2018 18:55

No real snacking as in meetings all day but free lunch meant that it wasn't the healthiest. Lots of veg for dinner so hopefully that balances out

Chrissmasjammies · 27/11/2018 19:28

I'm sticking with this...I don't care if it takes me a year to reach a normal BMI I would rather that than the misery of on/off the wagon. I tend to find intermittent fasting easy enough at times so most days am aiming for 2 meals but if it's 3 then that's fine. I have never been one for seconds but my portions can be too big but again that's for another week. This week the aim is to just cut the snacking and that's it!! Was well hungry for dinner this eve, it was nothing special bog standard mid week dinner but it tasted very good. Its a weird feeling in a way, I feel like a big pressure is lifted when I eat this way, the mental load is less not more and mild hunger for an hour or two until the next meal is a small price to pay for that. Its a wierd feeling in a way, having eating habits in themselves as the goal and weight loss (hopefully) as the by product not the main goal. How has it taken me till nearly 40 to cop on to this!

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 28/11/2018 08:05

Great that you’re feeling so positive jammies, that’s the aim of the game! I also don’t care how long it takes to get there.

Well done for avoiding the snacks Mail, I’m always grateful for a meeting to distract me til lunch time!

Quick check in....how are all doing? week going good...now the dreaded weekend to test me! Have dug out some pre baby clothes that used to fit well but are now way tighter. It's a good wake up call because my immediate post baby clothes are getting looser but they are bigger than my usual size! Making Christmas cakes, school Christmas disco, husbands work family party....loads of temptations but am going to try and stick to 2 to 3 meals with no more than low/No cal drinks in between until Christmas day! Bought a new dress online in a 12 to motivate!! 💃

Mailfuckoff · 30/11/2018 16:46

Some good days and some bad, lots of bread due to work lunches but trying to stay on track

WeeSausage · 30/11/2018 18:40

Hi can I join too? I've been doing this for a couple of weeks now and I've lost a few kilos. The first week or two were really tough, but I'm finding it quite easy now. I feel much better about sustaining this than some of the other ridiculous diets I've tried. And I'm happy letting my DC see me eat like this.

Chrissmasjammies · 30/11/2018 18:59

Welcome Weesausage. It's a slower weight loss but I think a lot more sustainable. I weighed myself today but am really going to try and not do it again until maybe just before Christmas so the focus is on habit and not scales.

TodoDoingDone · 02/12/2018 15:26

Hi, I'm going to try this. How long does it take to not get hungry between meal?

my day is:porridge for breakfast. I get to work and have tea with some nuts, then most days a low fat yogurt before lunch. Lunch is either soup or salad. Then afternoon is a mess, tea and biscuit at 14.00, hungry by 16.00 but no dinner till 19.00 or 20.00. So I snack to keep me going. And I feel nauseous and dizzy if I don't eat.

From your experience :How long before I can break this habit ?

WeeSausage · 02/12/2018 17:07

It took me about a week. I felt fairly unwell for a couple of days and had to have a small snack so I didn't pass out. I kept it small though. Now my blood sugars are in a much better state and I'm not tempted at all.

WeeSausage · 02/12/2018 17:08

I'm always starving by dinner time though!

TodoDoingDone · 03/12/2018 08:40

Thanks weesausage, good to know that it is possible. I'll start with cutting down....

WeeSausage · 03/12/2018 09:24

I would suggest trying to cut out all sugar, it really does mess with your appetite. I just have one or two pieces of fruit after a meal. Obviously when you are confidently in control, you can relax a bit.

Good luck!

TodoDoingDone · 03/12/2018 12:21

Thanks! Yes, sugar is my downfall. I feel so much better when I don't eat. I made it to lunch with no snacks. Baby steps...

WhiskyandRed · 03/12/2018 12:39

Hello everyone, I sort of lost track of this conversation because of a small domestic problem. The cat chased a flipping great rat into the house and then it disappeared somewhere under the kitchen cupboards. I’m hyperventilating even typing it. Until the body was uncovered — thank you pest control experts — and I knew for sure there wasn’t a nest of the little shitebags I was not wanting to eat or really be in the kitchen at all. This meant no snacking at home, but also lots of meals out. High calorie, big portions and very sore on the purse, ouch!

I’m trying to be more conscious as of today, but I like the idea of gentle self-care. Also, really now having a think about blood sugars as sometimes when I’m waiting for the next meal it really feels like ... jeepers, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s like a mist falls over my eyes and I could pretty much gnaw on anything, as if I was a rabid dog.

I haven’t been able to eat modestly for so long, because I can’t trust myself with that feeling around my 2 DC or at work. I’m scared of what being hungry will do to my moods.

Christmasjammies we have pretty much the same stats and similar motivations

Chrissmasjammies · 03/12/2018 13:20

Same back to you @WhiskyandRed! Would you think about going to 4 meals a day and then you are never too far from the next one. I don't think the number of meals a day matters as much as the idea that eating happens at meals and only meals. I have stopped allowing myself to pick while cooking or at kids left overs. I try and plate all my food and sit at the table and give myself the time and space to eat properly no matter what else is going on. Like a lot mothers I tended before to grab food on the fly. That's part of the no s diet that you can put what you need on your plate to get you through to the next meal. Your tolerance for mild hunger will grow I know mine did.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 04/12/2018 05:44

Sorry for the radio silence, fell off this thread for no good reason (thankfully not rat related).

I’ve not been doing brilliantly these last few days, haven’t been sleeping well so I’m reaching for the sugary stuff to keep me going.

Anyone got any recommendations for supplements to help with sleep? I get to sleep easily but don’t stay asleep, my mind is racing.

How are all doing? Hungrier today so reverted to my 3 meals and carbs with all of them. Chicken supreme made Last night for dinner today. Stupidly weighed myself this morning and no loss since last Thurs although my clothes feel less tight. So that's it now no more weighing till 1st January and that should keep me more motivated all through Christmas. I'm giving this 2 months to see what weight loss happens before I need to look more closely at portion size and carb/fat content etc. @Face i get where you are coming from. My baby only started sleeping through last month and the lack of sleep was hell. Survival mode all summer and lived on bread and biscuits.

WeeSausage · 05/12/2018 12:54

The first 3kg just fell off me, so I thought this was going to be easy. Apparently not Confused
