The 4-Week Body Blitz

Hi, does anyone have experience of this plan? It's the Chloe Madeley book.

I 'borrowed' the e-book version from the library yesterday, and from what I've read so far, it's probably what I need, something that can give me quick results and a good grounding to build on.

For background, I need to lose 15-20lbs, but also tone up, as I still have flab when I'm slimmer.

I don't want to go full-on low carb (bootcamp style), but mix it up, eating healthily and nutritiously and dropping my regular wine habit.

I'm currently hovering over the 'Amazon buy now' button. The e-book is hard to follow, so I reckon I need the paperback version.

It's maybe 15 years since I exercised, even then it was only the odd step or aerobics class. Am I deluding myself, or can I realistically change into a toned and lean specimen at my age?

I'm 59, flabby, love food and hate the gym, should I give it a go?

I have this book and the food is good and easy to follow (if you are happy to be fairly strict) however the exercise is tough! and i think (in the least rude way possible) you would find the exercise very tough if you haven't exercised for 15 years however if you are willing to push yourself and follow the food exactly to the letter then you will still have good results xx

Thanks for the honest feedback!

I'm okay with the diet aspect and have ordered the book.

Will see how the exercise part goes, I need to do something. I plan on starting Monday eek Grin.

It will take more than 4 weeks to become lean and toned - you can make a good start though.

WarmAutumn · 31/10/2018 21:00

Thanks fish, I appreciate that there are no shortcuts, and there's a hard slog involved.

The book suggests repeating the four weeks straight away, and advocates a twelve week plan to start with.

That sounds great WarmAutumn it is great to have an aim! Also i think you will really notice your fitness levels improving over the 4 weeks and beyond and that will be a great push Smile Have you set yourself a target of weight you want to lose in the 4 weeks or do you just want to be more toned? Good luck - i am on a toning mission at the moment too! xx

WarmAutumn · 01/11/2018 13:59

1lb, I'm going to see how the first four weeks go, ideally I would like to lose 10lbs before Christmas. Any improvement on fitness and toning is a bonus.

My general health and well being has been getting me down for a while. Like most people, I should do more, and to be honest, I'm running out of excuses.

This week, I have started by being more mindful of what I am eating and have decided to cut out alcohol altogether for the short term. Hopefully, I'll see the benefits of the plan and have more motivation to stick to better habits going forward.

I have found it far too easy in the past to slip back into my old ways, when I know that I should be making permanent changes.

Good luck with the plan! I started on sat but I’m only doing week 1 this time (I did this earlier in the year, wasnt great for me but my biggest loss came in week 1 so just doing it again for a kick start before the festive overeating starts!)

I do think the plan works if you stick to it, exercises are pretty tough but for me the food was the biggest issue (just generally feeling hungry and don’t particularly like veg!). But a lot of people like the food choices so I think it’s down to personal preference.

Let us know how you get on!

WarmAutumn · 04/11/2018 22:18

Thanks Chippy. Hope you get some good results.

The previous comments about exercise have made me think again.

I've done my weight and body measurements today and my menu plan for tomorrow.

I intend to do the week 1 food plan only, to ease into things, and see what sort of results I get.

After all, I have twelve weeks to work on my targets.

So, first day completed.

Found it hard to fit in three meals and two snacks, to be honest. I was still full at dinner time, having had salmon and broccoli at lunch time. I also walked for 2 hours or so this morning.

Feeling positive, and I resisted Bonfire Night treats.

Will check in on the thread later this week and post any losses.

Now my book has arrived, I'm going to study the plan properly and maybe try a few of the week 1 exercises.

Well done Warm! Yeah the high protein/fat combo does keep you full, I’ve been having my yoghurt snack after my dinner and it’s been ok.

Have a go of the exercises but if it’s too much just do your own thing, people still get really good results doing that. I could only manage half my hiit last night, pretty shitty day and felt really tired. But I’m not too bothered as I stuck to the food plan.

Good effort resisting bonfire treats too! X

WarmAutumn · 06/11/2018 09:25

Thanks Chippy. Great that you managed anything if you weren't feeling up to it. Hope that translates into good results for you. Smile

I had some success with low carbing about 18 months ago, and I think this plan is making me focus on portion sizes a lot more, so I hope to develop some good habits around healthier eating. Despite some of the negativity around Chloe, I believe she knows her stuff.

How are you getting on @WarmAutumn? I’m pretty glad tomorrow is my last day, I’ve done all the exercise and the food plan but weirdly I feel bloated and don’t feel like I’ve lost any weight. I don’t think I’ve followed the portion sizes as much this time though.

Will weigh in on sat morning anyway. Hope you’re getting on ok! X

WarmAutumn · 08/11/2018 14:33

Hi Chippy, it's going well, thanks for asking!

Have stuck to the diet to the letter. Did a six mile walk today.

Well done for getting through the exercises, I am a bit nervous about starting them next week.

I know first week weight loss on any new plan is likely to be high, compared to subsequent weigh ins, but I'm still feeling optimistic. Will post an update when I do the first weigh in on Monday.

Have you measured yourself? Sometimes you can lose inches instead of pounds. Hope you have a good loss regardless!

OP posts:
WarmAutumn · 12/11/2018 07:21

Weigh in time, I've actually lost seven pounds!

Really chuffed, as that's with diet only and no changes to exercise and activity.

I haven't checked my measurements yet, will update later.

And I don't expect to continue with this rate of loss, FFS, I only have another 7-10lbs to go.

Typical meals:
Full-fat Greek yogurt with fresh berries or a herb omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes.

Eggs, chicken or salmon with a side salad

Home made soups, stew, curry, chilli, roast chicken or fish with plenty of non-carby veg, but a few potatoes or rice at the weekend.

Tea and coffee with skimmed milk, water, cordial with water at the weekend and absolutely no alcohol.

I must say I have not missed my wine at all, and biscuits, cake and processed food have lost their appeal (at least for the moment Smile).

Let's see how week 2 goes, have a couple of meals out, but hope to find healthy choices on the menu!

Well done @Warm that’s a great result! Even better if you’ve found it sustainable!

WarmAutumn · 12/11/2018 20:56

Thank you @Chippy, and how did your weekend weigh-in go? Are you continuing with week 2, or have you achieved the reset that you wanted?

1lbatatime · 13/11/2018 10:29

Well done Warm that is a brilliant loss and really motivates you to stick to it doesn't it? xxx

WarmAutumn · 13/11/2018 18:10

Yes, 1lb, I'm really pleased and determined to stick with it!
