Ten weeks until Christmas Eve and 20lbs gone.......

So, my husband is old school and still gets holiday photos printed. I saw the dreaded pool lounger shot f ok the summer at the weekend.

In my head I was a youngish, healthyish 40 something mother.

Dear god!!! In reality, I looked like the rotund middle aged biology teacher I had in the 80s and the 14 year old (bitch) me wondered, "Ewwww, HOW can anyone let themselves get like that?"

It was like someone had shoved a bicycle pump up my backside and had decided to have a great cardio workout by inflating my middle section to bursting point.

It's not normal. It's not healthy. And it's not fun.

So the Christmas pics are going to be different.

10 weeks, 20 lbs. Who's with me?

I’m in. Do you have a plan?

flapjackfairy · 16/10/2018 09:20

Well I don't know about 20 lb but I am trying to start today with the aim to lose a stone . Does that qualify me to join ?

Jackshouse · 16/10/2018 10:33

I’m in. I have put on weight since my holiday - how did that happen. And I was already fat.

I going no snacks and sensible eating as this works best for me. I think I will write down everything I eat so I can force myself to think about it.

I might also try some exercise and if I have put in effort then I don’t like to waste those lost calories on biscuits.

I'm in!

I turn 40 in 90 days. I reached 97.5 kilos. Deep breath.

For the next 90 days I'm going to eat healthy, exercise EVERY DAY and have occasional treats only when planned. No binges.

Christmas will not be an 8-10 day festival of obscenity. I will enjoy good food with my family without over indulging.

I will be fit when I turn 40!!

Fuzzyend · 16/10/2018 18:21

Excellent!! Nice to have company!

I agree 20 lbs is quite ambitious - if I got to a stone and I'd be thrilled.

My plan is 16:8, with a very light meal (e.g. soup) at lunch then a sizeable meal in the evening with no snacking, no sugar/starch, but loads of veg.

I've worked out that I really like to feel full and satisfied once a day, even if I'm quite hungry in the hours beforehand. It gives me something to look forward to. The worst thing for me is lots of little meals - recipe for disaster.

Also it means I can incorporate social stuff.

What about everyone else? What works for you?

Ooo, and the other thing I'm going to try to do is a bit of exercise each day. Not for the weight loss, but for general wellbeing and the hope that I'll sleep better.

Tiredness is generally the reason I go off piste with healthy eating.

I have a few issues that complicate weight loss. I'm disabled and have chronic pain, my ability to exercise is limited. But I can do some things, that is what I'm focusing on.

I also take a lot of medication, some of them have weight gain as side effects. I need to take medication with food. I'm trying to do fasted cardio, but it means I'm doing it without any pain relief. And I need medication at night, 9.30-10ish and it has to be taken with food.

But I'm going to focus on the positives and loose a serious amount of weight before I turn 40. 💪

Fuzzyend · 16/10/2018 20:25

That does sound tough Lego. What sort of cardio do you manage to do?

My "exercise" this morning was a 15 minute YouTube warm down videoGrin

Not sure that will get me back in my party dress, but it's a start and all I could face this morning.......

I am impressed with everyone’s exercise. I’m focusing on diet as I know that makes the most difference and I know I will fail if I make too many changes at once. I’m going to make sure I get 10,000
steps in a day but I think my fit bit recorded my epic washing folding session yesterday as walking so that may have been a bit of a cheat.

legocardsagain · 17/10/2018 10:34

I have a cross trainer in my cold dark gloomy garage. I can do gentle exercise on that as it's non impact. I'll keep plugging away.
