due to illness, ive piled on 5 stone and im so miserable..I take a size 20/22 and I cant bear to look at myself in the mirror anymore..I think lighter life might be good for me as I have issues with food, I comfort eat etc..but at the same time, im a bit scared of the ketosis thing ive seen mentioned..ive got a place on a course booked in 3 weeks..has anyone done it?

YorkieGirl has done really well on this. I'm afraid I'm no help - size 24 and crap at diets. Good luck. xx

I am consideing LL/Cambridge too! Am a size 22 and want to lose 6 stone at least! YG has done fab on LL and misdee is doing well on cambridge

I did it too - a couple of years ago. It is great, pretty expensive and you have to be in it for the long haul. It's no gastronomic experience but it is a quick means to the ends.

You will feel really well on it - partly because it's all packed full of vitamins and minerals, plus you will be drinking buckets of water - so most people feel very well and their skin usually looks great too !

The groups are good as you share the experience with poeople who actually understand. All I'd say is - be ready to be interrogated as everyone and their dog will query whether it is healthy or not - and do do maintenance - I didn't and I didn't get the full benefits I have to say !

good Luck

Is the illness which made you gain teh weight resolved now?If you have been unwell meal replacement may be a bit harsh for you.

snowwonder · 11/06/2007 22:19

there is a cambridge thread somewhere in big/ slim bit......

if money no object go for LL, it is more expensive but you get the group sessions

good luck

fatandsad · 11/06/2007 22:21

noddyholder-It Is more a disability than an illness, I am now permanatly disabled, however when I first became ill, I was housebound and on medication which caused weight gain which I have now stopped taking

YG-I think I need the counselling element, definitely.

Well I know one person who is doing lighterlife. She has lost a lot of weight thus far - facilated I think by the nice line in bulimia that she has developed since starting the programme. Don't wish to be negative but it is my opinion that it isn't the foundation for a sensible eating plan.

However clearly it works for some people - and fair play to them
