I'm not sure if I can post this here but I'm really struggling. I've tried a variety of diets, and I've decided to just really try and eat healthy. I just give in so easily and so quickly- like the same day. As in healthy I mean 3 meals a day, healthy snacks if needed, and only water. But I always end up going back to eating loads of crap and drinking fizzy drinks and loads of it. I have on going issues with mental health anyway but I get so anxious over changing my diet( change in general) but my partners reckons if I just push through the diet I can and my body will get used to it and it will really help my mental and physical health. It's effecting my daughter as she prefers to graze rather than eat meals and she won't eat certain things or prefers not to and my partner is worried for my health. Sorry for rambling I'm just really looking for some long term, solid advice. (I'm vegan btw) thanks.

Have you tried transitioning to WFPB (whole foods plant based)?

Have you heard of Chef AJ (WFPB but even stricter for weight loss/combating cravings in those prone to overeating)?

I've just bought her book 'The secrets to ultimate weight loss' (only glanced through at moment) but I've already been following her for a year or so and SLOWLY adopting her way of eating long term (it is more of an organisational/habit/social issue with me rather than finding that way of eating hard). The closer I follow it the more that her statement 'Your cravings will go away if you stop indulging them' definitely rings true.

After decades of yo yo dieting I am really trying to adopt changes long term like you - by experimenting with what works for me, picking up tips on you tube, trying them out, forgiving myself if I'm not perfect, and slowly I am changing things for good.

As for tips - baby steps! Right now my new thing is making up 3-4 salads in the fridge every 3-4 days (in those salad to go containers by sistema) and trying to have leafy green vegetables (and other veg) with dinner each night. I've tried the vegetables for breakfast thing a a few times (it does make me feel great but I cannot face them until late morning which is fine when I'm not working but...) so I am back to porridge and berries. I will come back to it again though.

I've also starting treating myself to cookery classes - there is one fairly close to me that is a vegetarian cookery school but at least 50% of their classes are now Vegan and also cater for WFPB. There are online courses too. I think it is important to enjoy it.

For now I have given up on the family all eating the same things/or similar at the same time. Hopefully we will get there eventually but for now I know it is too overwhelming to push it would stop me making any progress at all.
