And nothing is happening, I'm not losing weight, not losing inches either, I'm miffed.

At present I'm going to spin 4 times a week, drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, eating well.
Doing 5kg weights for arms routine.
I've just bought the ministry of sound dvd maybe that'll be a bit of boost.
Should I get a personal trainer ?

What's your current height/weight?

DrNortherner · 08/06/2007 09:27

How long have you been doing this? REmember muscle weighs more than fat. That said, you should be losing inches and noticing a difference with your clothes.

Hideehi · 08/06/2007 09:34

I'm 5'10 and about 11 stone, 32" bust, 27" waist and 37" ass
I can get into a 10 but it's not comfortable.
Not long actually now you mention it about 3 weeks.
I guess I'm just used to starving myself and seeing instant results, but not healthy.

That sounds incredibly frustrating. I think we need to look at what you're eating and also what resistance work you are doing.

Spin should be burning around 800 calories per session if you are really working hard so it's pretty intense. Exercise won't work without a good diet though - can you tell us what you're eating?

DrNortherner · 08/06/2007 09:38

OK, I would give it another 3 weeks ans see what results you are having then. Weigh yourself once a week only and not after exercise.

Good on you for doing spin. It is bloody hard!!

Hideehi · 08/06/2007 09:58

Today I've had a bowl of special K with semi skimmed milk, I'll have veg chilli soup and wholegrain bread for lunch, I do have a few biccy's during the day, 4 at most plain digestives, an apple, a yoghurt and then a bacon omlette with 3 slices of bacon and 3 eggs most nights, but I am bloody sick of those.
Plus 2 litres at least of water, probably about 8 cups of tea.

I do keep up at spinning I could probably try harder though, 800 calories that's great news, I didn't realise.

Hideehi - I have just run the Race for Life and have been 'training' for it over the last 4 weeks, running 3 times a week for abour 20-25 minutes. Eating the same but output increased, nett result? zero lbs loss, and in fact this week put a lb on. Am v sick of it and totally totally sympathise. Only comment on your info posted is that you could be eating too many eggs if you have an omellette every day maybe?.

Enid · 08/06/2007 10:11

I have a personal trainer

she is fabbo

I have finally noticed my shape changing (has taken 3 months though)

Enid · 08/06/2007 10:12

hideehi if you are a size 10 maybe you should jsut chill out? you sound like a good weigth for your height already?

arfishy · 08/06/2007 10:19

I would reduce your carbs and also stick to one egg per day - the digestives will be around 350 calories in total and the eggs are approx 100 cals each too, so that's your spin class cals taken care of - they might not be yummy fattening things but there are lots of calories there.

I would suggest dropping the biscuits, reduce your eggs down to one and perhaps bulk out with more veg & salads.

Adding in some weight training will increase your metabolism and help tone you - it's really important to do this as well as the cardio spin class.

Enid · 08/06/2007 10:19

you dont eat enough fruit and veg IMO

Hideehi · 08/06/2007 10:21

Good point about the eggs, I'm sick of them anyway.
Enid, I know i'm never happy, but I'd like those rolls from pregnancies to be gone and less muffin top over my jeans.
The 10's fit but feel very tight.
It's tone I want really, weight loss would be nice but if I looked neater that's the real aim.

pilates

mustrunmore · 08/06/2007 10:27

If you're 5 10 and a size 10, even at a squeeze, I'd say you've nothing to worry about. Keep on with the spinning, but maybe concentrate more on weights too, pick specific sculpting exercises for the areas you want to iron out?

arfishy · 08/06/2007 10:31

Yes agree. Reformer pilates is good and yoga. You've already got really good cardio so just a few dietary tweaks and some toning & weight training will do the trick.

I would suggest that you don't weigh yourself - your body shape will change and you will lose inches but gain muscle so the scales will lie - unless you've got some body fat/hydration scales. I got some accidentally and they're quite good for this sort of thing.

Hideehi · 08/06/2007 10:37

Arfishy, which one would you recommend, I would quite like some new scales anyway.
Thanks for the words of wisdom

I'm in Oz so the brands probably aren't the same. I think in the UK I had Tanita ones but I've been away for a while so there might be better ones available now.

I really empathise with you - I spent years being able to drop weight effortlessly and then suddenly I've had to really work hard! I've just recently dropped a couple of dress sizes but had to work hard, which is gutting when you're used to just not eating to do it.
