It depends on what your diet is like already & how much exercise you do

personally I think they are all similar it's just finding the right one that suits you.

ireally like the food doctor (Ian Marber) not just for 'diet' but also long-term healthy eating advice. And I finally took a peep at south beach diet, and was really impressed at it, always assumed was gimmicky diet but it's written by a cardiologist and was very interesting. I learnt a lot from both of these.

can u list me all the diets that you know please if possible?
thanks

(and thanks girls for the advice)

plus how does slimming world works??...one week green and one week red if wanted. or can u mixed it in the same week??

biglips i think slimming world can be on alternate days, friend lost loads of weight on it but she has iron will. another pal lost on ww, but she says as soon as you relax it does tend to go back on.

i do not like being told what to eat and have recently lost a stone by halving consumption of evil things (wine and cheese in my case) and doubling exercise.

the Ian Marber 'food doctor diet' book starts off with a 1 week diet, to kick-start you but then it's all just healthy eating. he gives really clear guidelines on what to eat & when, eg having a snack around 10 if you had breakie at 7, and what that snack should be, plus a couple of pages of suggestions, so endless variety, then at the end a recipe section. I think it's great and constantly refer back to it. And he makes much more sence & more realistic than eg Gillian mcKeith

this low carb diet is easy and I've lost nearly 3 stone on it

Hi, am new to MN thought i'd chip in that i joined the dreaded WeightWatchers. 8weeks ago now and i've lost a stone , and i'm breastfeeding.

I find it works because it looks at healthy eating and exercise as a whole, and it is realistic - no foods are forbidden. It can be a pfaff working out the points but for me it's worth it... In theory it's finding a healthy eating plan for life - if it's a diet - and most of them work. You have to be prepared to stick to it once at your goal or it just piles back on (speaking from experience). I've got another 6 stone to loose (anyway!) so wish me luck and i wish you all luck too.
