Hi all,

I'm about 4 stone over weight and I can't seem to stick to any diet.

Really want to get rid of this weight but I need something realistic, motivating and something that really keeps it off?

I've tried slimming world before and just didn't quite enjoy it like I know so many people do.

I would like to get into exercise more but don't really have a gym buddy to motivate me to go everyday, I tell myself "I'll go tomorrow, I'll start tomorrow" and then after a couple of days I give up, any tips/ideas?

I used to be really healthy and enjoy the gym but since gaining so much weight I've lost all of my motivation and can't see myself ever reaching an end goal.

Any help would be great :) xxx

Hi because

I recently lost 4 stone.
I set myself a target of 1lb per week which is 52lbs in a year. I had lost 56lbs in the year so that's 4 stone.
I did it with WW and a bit of walking.

It wasn't easy but it wasn't horrendously difficult either. I found the support from my WW group invaluable plus various fb pages.

Good luck!

I cut out all processed foods. And now eatbthe paleo diet. Works brilliantly. I suffer from fibromyalgia and the cutting out the crap has halved my pain. So much so that I have gone back to work.

I have not been limiting myself on food and I have lost every week. I had a sneaky chocolate snack at the weekend. And felt so sick after asnin not used to eating stuff like that anymore.
I added lots of vitamins. And feel so much better I can’t even tell u how much better I feell.

I also watch clean and delicious channel on you tube. She is doing a series of intuitive eating which is really interesting.
Also read the book mad diet. Tells u lots about food and what’s in it. It’s enough to not make u eat crap for ever.

I am also on my journey like you to lose 4.5 stone by next year for my holiday...

I felt the same way you do no motivation at allfelt like nothing was working and easily give up...

But Ive now stuck to calorie counting using mfp app and its great.
I eat salads , veg, chicken all healthy foods & some days mix it up with maybe a slimfast shake for breakfast& lunch
Once you get started you’ll start to feel loads better

I have almost no willpower when it comes to dieting but I did have some success with the 5:2 diet a few years ago. I got very complacent about my weight and found myself at 11.5 stone in January of this year. I worked out my tdee which was say 1600 per day, took 500 away (which is the amount advised to cut in order to lose 1lb a week and tried to stick to that using Sparkpeople (like mfp I believe) logging everything I ate or drank in a day. I was very strict for the first month (well, the first week, then the first two and so on) then when I did slip and eat more than i should (this happened at least once a fortnight) I walked more or ate less the next day. I lost 2 stone in 5 months and am so pleased with it. I have realised I don't need nearly as much food as I thought so portion size has become very small. I am 46 so that fits with what I've read about calorie need shrinking as we get older.

Hi Becca,

I have recently downloaded Noom onto my phone. I did the 2 week free trial and really liked it so I am now signed up. The app does all the working out for you with regards to your calorie goal per day, you just need to input your current weight and height and tell it what your goal is.

I find it great because it is not only easy to follow but it introduces new ideas, tricks and tips every day. There is a coach and also a group chat. It is a calorie controlled diet not an exclusion diet - they are very much aiming at lifestyle and attitude change that you can sustain rather than a crash weight loss programme.
It is very American so if your not into slightly cheesy American humour and don't like their style of motivation "Great choices!" it may not be right for you.
To be honest Noom is telling me to do all the things that PP have said and that I think I already knew but it serves to keep me on track and I do need that daily motivation or I just go back to brownies.
I have lost 1/2 stone in two weeks without too much hardship.
