The dreaded plateau

I've been dieting for three (ish) months now (reduced calorie, restricted portions, no nibbling!) and have lost 1.5 stone. Happy about that, and another 9 lbs to go. I'm really trying to do it by changing my eating habits so it is sustainable.

However, my weight loss has slowed right down to about a pound a week which is rather disheartening. I've not changed anything...I'm exercising just as much (lots of vigorous walking mostly; for other health reasons I can only do "moderate" exercise) and maintaining the healthy eating habits.

Any ideas why weight loss has slowed? Is the "plateauing" a real thing? How can I kick start it all again to lose this last bit?

Unless you are still a fairly overweight a pound a week is a realistic loss at this stage though. To lose more you'd probably have to reduce your calories by quite a lot which if you are anything like me will just make you hungry and pissed off and more likely to have a blow out! Slow and steady wins the race! I've lost a similar amount and am now only aiming to lose about another 4 or 5 pounds but it's hard going at this stage. I'm reassuring myself that doing it slowly means it's more likely to stay off!

A plateau is at least a month where you don't lose anything, not weightloss getting slower as you reach your goal. You just have to keep at it. The last couple of pounds will probably take you a few weeks each. Just how it is I'm afraid.
