How do you avoid eating your DCs bad foods / sweet treats?

Hello all, like most kids DS pesters me to buy sweet stuff at the supermarket.

I try hard to resist but do say yes sometimes. I can't really avoid taking him to the supermarket sometimes because am a LP and online shopping is more expensive for a lot of things than my local Lidl.

Today we bought a box of Jaffa Cakes, and got in sat down and I ate a couple. I know it's not that bad in the scheme of things but I find it hard to resist anything sweet that's in the house.

Does anyone have any tips on limiting having sweet stuff in the house when you have DCs and also how you stop yourself having some?

Also there are so many opportunities to eat crap when kids are about, I will list a few:

  • kids parties
  • relatives buying sweets for DS
  • easter eggs, xmas selection boxes, halloween candy
  • other kids come for a play date so buy the odd box of biscuits
  • pester power in the supermarket
  • eating their leftovers (e.g. chips, pizza etc). DS is very fussy and although he eats a lot of veggies we often make him a few chips or a bit of pizza as a side dish)...

I just seem to be around crap food and when I want to lose weight it's just making it hard and frustrating when I crumble!

Just interested in ideas for a) cutting him down on having stuff in the house, and b) being strong around bad foods as there are so many bad foods about!

Would welcome any pointers! Thanks

I've been using an app called 12 weeks to Wow. It's based on hypnosis and really worked for me! We had a lot of chocolate in the house and since using it I haven't touched it. I've done the sugar challenge for 5 weeks now and lost 9lbs x

I always buy my ds a one off treat, so one cookie or muffin from the bakery bit, or one chocolate yogurt etc. That way he only had one thing and I have none. The rest of it I just have to resist, or only have a little thing at things like birthday parties etc and never anything at home!

Yep I too can only buy what i hate Grin haribos and ice cream. Other than that it’s a one off treat rather than a family / multi pack. It doesn’t save me money to buy larger quantities as I end up eating it, as well as putting on pounds in weight too!
