Shakes

I am considering trying shakes to kick start weight loss. I've tried and failed calorie counting, low carb, slimming world etc as I think once I eat something it's a free for all. Has anyone done this for a few weeks and managed to eat healthily after?

I've just had an exante shake. Are they all really salty? couldn't finish it!

I did a vlcd for 9 months! ( yes not typo) I lost 13 st. And I managed to maintain that for 6 .5 years I only put weight back on ( not all 13st roughy 6 ) because I stopped caring ( which meant eating what ever I wanted with out giving a shit , I also stopped weighing my self regularly) I lost a baby and my dad in that time and I gave up, I have since tried healthy eating , slimmers world etc and I can't do it , I need to the ultimate control for me so , in a weeks time I am doing it all again ,

This Wednesday there a BBC1 show (The Big Crash Diet Experiment) that looks at shake diets. Looks interesting, I am toying with the idea myself.

I am six weeks into an exante diet (manplan - 3 shakes and 2/3 boiled eggs a day) I have lost nearly 2 stone and my BMI is nearly normal
I have not seen a weight this low for 5 years.
I feel awesome.
I shall do 2 more weeks and then switch to low carb which I can maintain well on.
Of course I may put the weight back on, but then I did with slimming world, and every other plan. That's not the diet's fault.
Also up to date with the research that says the 2lb a week healthy weight loss is an arbritrary figure plucked from nowhere very much, and rapid weight loss reverses insulin de-sensitivity quickly.
Good luck with it all!

how are you finding the shakes? I just got some exante shakes and bars and all the shakes so far had a funny salty taste to them.

I quite like most of the shakes I tried - don't taste salty to me but I know there have been lots of complaints about the bars being salty recently. Shakes I hate are lemon cheesecake & cookies and cream. Sadly I have loads of those to go - leaving them right til the end!
Best shakes I had were almond and vanilla, wish I'd ordered more!
Haven't tried any bars or meals - knew I just wanted to stick to shakes as I'm doing it short term and they're the cheapest - also helps me to drink enough water.

I have not tried the bars yet as thought I would use them if out for the day. I had been advised to blend the shakes with loads of water and ice to make them taste better

BE careful- slim fast etc are NOT meal replacements so they don’t have the right nutrients in, won’t make you go into Ketosis etc for rapid weight loss. So they are ok-ish as replacement for a couple of meals but if you want to completely give up food you need to do exante/Cambridge type thing or you will end up unwell. Plus to maintain drinking only shakes for several weeks you will find it a LOT easier in ketosis!
