Hello!

I've had a very sociable but very unhealthy few weeks and have put on a bit of weight - loads of eating out and drinking wine and not moving enough!

I'm trying to have a healthy two weeks before my summer holiday and hopefully shift the few lbs that have crept on.

Lo-cal lunches I seem to have mailed but drawing a bit of a blank at brekkie. Smoothies etc seem to have SO much sugar in. Any good ideas? I don't have a sweet tooth. Anything that can be prepared at work (i.e only microwave and toaster, no stove) is a massive plus!

Anything without bread. Hard boiled egg, tinned sardines and avocado, smoked mackerel and avocado, tomato with cheese and ham. They are surprisingly filling.

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 18:32

Thanks curcur trouble is avoid and cheese are quite high fat Sad shame as I adore them!!

They might be high fat, but that's way better than high sugar breakfasts like fruit, oats etc.

Smoked salmon, avocado & eggs is a great breakfast to start the day.. or swap the salmon for ham if you prefer.

TittyGolightly · 21/05/2018 18:43

High fat = weight loss.

I have full fat (10%) Greek yogurt with frozen berries and ground flaxseed for breakfast - as part of 800 cals a day max.

MikeUniformMike · 21/05/2018 18:43

Go for a cooked breakfast e.g scrambled eggs , a sensible lunch and skip the evening meal.

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 18:45

I'm so confused about how to lose weight tbh. Is it low carbs, low calories, low sugar, low fat or all the above??

curcur · 21/05/2018 18:48

But without the bread, avocado and cheese with be a relatively low cal breakfast and more importantly will fill you up and keep you satiated for a longer period of time. A hard boiled egg is surprisingly filling - is not low fat but only 80 cals.

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 18:48

Because I don't really understand it, the way I usually lose a bit of weight is by eating eating all green vegetables, little bit of rice and plain chicken. That gets boring more than once a day though!!

Alpen and soya milk no sugar or fruit added is my usually breakfast. today I had 200g of cherry tomatoes and soya milk because I forgot to pack my breakfast I also like an açai bowl from Iceland because it's vegan.

MikeUniformMike · 21/05/2018 18:52

It's to do with handing hunger. Skipping the evening meal will make you properly hungry in the morning but the cooked breakfast is high in protein and probably fat so will keep you full until lunchtime.
Decent lunch e.g. lots of salad + protein will keep you going until the evening. In the evening you resist food which is not easy.

In theory, low calories is the way to do it but not all calories are equal - some foods make you more hungry etc.

MikeUniformMike · 21/05/2018 18:53

Handling not handing.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/05/2018 18:53

Skip breakfast. 16:8 fasting.

annandale · 21/05/2018 18:55

Try myfitnesspal. I usually have a boiled egg, a pear and coffee. I sometimes have porridge especially in the winter, but have to weigh the oats.

curcur · 21/05/2018 18:56

Try only eating carbs with only one meal a day (and being careful with the portion size). Your body gets used to not eating them and you will feel full without them after a couple of days. Generally the carbs are quite a high proportion of calories in every meal so by controlling these, your calories are reduced anyway. Don’t focus too much on calorie counting and low fat foods. Cut out any sugar/prepared meals. So if you’re have bolognese for example, eat it with a big serving of spinach instead of pasta. This way if you’re cooking for other people , you can make the same meals but one minor change to your own dish.

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 19:04

I love no added sugar Alpen with hot milk and a blob of honey but I'm sure I have about 8 times as much as you're supposed to Blush

Have an egg salad with anchovies and mustard dressing instead.

I love boiled eggs so much. I bought a hard boiled egg slicer at the weekend - it's fab.

Kikikikikiki · 21/05/2018 19:16

Very skinny here

I run every morning and then demolish large bowl of Moma porridge made with water

Sees me happily through until midday

curcur · 21/05/2018 19:18

Have a bread less egg sandwich...make the egg filling with your choice of dressing and fill lettuce or watercress with the egg. That’s 200 calories less than with bread (assuming you have butter on your bread)

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 19:18

I love boiled eggs so much

What else do you do with them? Smile

fill lettuce or watercress with the egg

Omg that's an amazing idea!

I actually make up a vat of chicken soup (sweat Waitrose frozen soffritto, add chicken thighs and brown, add chicken stock, boil and then switch off. Shred chicken and add back in sans bones/skin). Or mushroom soup (sweat pack frozen onions, add four packs of frozen mushrooms, add veg stock, boil and off).

I quite like soup for breakfast.
Or I fry up garlic and spinach and scramble in eggs. Or leftovers.
But I know for alot of British people this would prob be unthinkable.

MikeUniformMike · 21/05/2018 19:21

Egg in a cup. Two boiled eggs peeled and chopped in a cup
You can put them with most foods. Poached egg is good too.

MikeUniformMike · 21/05/2018 19:21

You can add fresh herbs like chives, cress/watercress etc.

Thisnamechanger · 21/05/2018 19:27

Bastard M&S has no lettuce at all. Angry
