Dropping dress sizes - what do you do about your wardrobe?

For those of you who have lost a fair amount of weight and lost 2 dress sizes, what have you done with your wardrobe?

Did you throw everything out/eBay it/donate to charity shop? And then go and buy everything in your new size?

Or did you vacuum pack it or something and keep it.

Or did you still keep wearing some of your older size clothes?

I have SO MANY clothes at a size 12 but am on a project to drop from size 12 to a size 8 (lost about a stone and a few pounds at the mo) so just wondering, if I do make it there, what to do about my wardrobe.

What have others done please?

I gave away most of mine. But I wish I kept them. The ones I could not bear to part with I had them resized.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 06/05/2018 21:31

Kept most of mine as they fitted much better when I wasn't so bulgey! I went from a 16 to a 12. They were useful when I got preggers though :)

Only thing was jeans which were impossible to wear so chucked them or kept them for diy.

Yeah I am a bit of a clothes hoarder, I keep them, the result of which is I have clothes I'm everythung from a 16 to an 8. Thr majority are a ten, but I've cefinetly got the outliers in there.😳

I dropped 5 dress sizes, every time I dropped a size I’d charity shop the older clothes so that I wasn’t tempted to fit them again. It has worked well so far.

Ebay & charity shop.
Much as I loved some of my bigger clothes, I felt it was a psychological battle I didn't need if I kept them. Why keep them ..... you shouldn't ever need them again! Yeah, yeah, I know 😂

I got rid, mix of selling and charity shop. Some bits I kept as I prefer them looser fitting. :)

I went from a 16 to an 8.

Was expensive and my wardrobe is currently pretty sparse but I knew there was no going back so no point keeping it.

Dumped everything. If you keep them a bit of your brain is saying there is a chance you might put the weight back on. I’m not prepared to do this and don’t want it to be even a tiny possibility so into charity bin as I went along.

LesLavandes · 07/05/2018 09:06

I had a lot of my clothes altered

madolddogwoman40 · 07/05/2018 09:18

I took them to the charity shop. I’m really glad I didn’t keep them because I gained a bit of weight again recently and my “skinny” (far from it) clothes getting too tight made me get back on the wagon. If I’d had bigger clothes available I think I’d probably just have kept gaining...

If you don't mind me asking, how did you do that?
Did you take a pile of stuff to a tailor and ask them to refit it to your new size?
Did it cost a lot to have it done?
