Slimming World or Weight Watchers?

I need to lose a couple of stone. I’ve tried without joining a “club” but I think I need a bit of peer pressure for discipline.

I lost 4 stone post-baby, 5 years ago on SW. At the time they did red/green days, which worked well for me as I am veggie, and the free veg, lentils and Quorn allowed on green let me to cook pretty much what I did normally for main meals, for me and the DC. I mostly used HEx s and syns as breakfast, snacks and puddings I seem to remember.

Thing is, there is now not a SW group I could essily get to.

There is a WW group in my village, which I could get to. I know, and like, the leader and feel that she’d be great motivation. (She’s not a friend, just somebody I know through another public facing job she does locally).I don’t know anything about WW. Does it allow me to cook from scratch and adapt “normal” meals? Can I do it “stealthily” around the DC’s meals. I do not want them to know I am dieting, i’d rather just eat similarly to them, but with less sides/sauces/extras/more veg/no pudding etc. Then there is also beanpole DH and his voracious appetite!

I prefer to cook from scratch or use “ingredient” foods rather than ready meals/proprietary foods.

I'm the same as you in that i do best with the support of a club. I think they are both sensible diets where you cook normal meals. It's a while since i did WW. I find SW easy to follow, but I'd probably do whichever is most convenient for you.

Sw has changed. As someone who did red/green it took me a few weeks to get my head round potatoes being free and not weighed like before.

I tried WW and just couldn't get my head round it. But a few friends have lost weight no problem on it and are maintaining their loss now they have hit target.

TBH, in practical terms, it’s WW or no group, so I’m going to have to give WW a go.

I've been following the Extra Easy plan on Slimming World for almost a year and I've lost 4st so far. I am not sure about WW as I've only ever followed SW so I am going to say, go with SW!

I’ve been doing WW since January and have lost 2st 3lbs - but I was particularly massive to start with. It’s quite easy to stick to and cook with. I’m veggie too, as are DH and DD and we mainly eat the same things, just less accompaniments for me. Beans, pulses, eggs and fat free yogurt are all 0 points, so things like veggie chilli, lentil soup, veg curries all work out very low in points. DH have them with rice etc, and I skip the rice or have a smaller portion depending on what I’ve already eaten so far that day. I couldn’t be doing with making separate meals for them. You can eat anything, but it does make you think what you’re ‘spending’ your points on.

It’s the kind of food I should always have been eating as a veggie, but didn’t. I do it online, and I really need a ‘cap’ on what I can eat in a day, or I’d eat forever. The points limit helps with that without being as fussy as calorie counting. The app on the phone is great too. You can scan barcodes on packets and it tells you how many points are in things.

Good luck with it!
