I used to be a very fit and very toned size 10. However I spent hours and hours at the gym and that’s something I don’t have the time or inclination for any more.

I do go to the gym but it’s very hit and miss. I have a 7 yo DD and work v v long hours and commute 3 days a week.

I’m 51 and have terrible sugar and carb cravings - I often find myself eating chocolate, bread and biscuits but I have never eaten like this in my life.

I often sleep v badly and that doesn’t help me general poor motivation with the gym and sugar cravings. Sleep has improved since I started HRT a while back.

I start each week with good intentions but quickly crave sugar and fall off the wagon. I am now a size 14 which isn’t that big I know but for me it’s v uncomfortable as my stomach is big and I just feel v down and frustrated. At the same time I feel I have lived most of the last 10-15 years on diets and want to stop the vicious circle.

Does anyone have any suggestions etc? I am sick of eating crap and know that it’s affecting me.

Have you looked at low carbing? There’s a really good thread on here with loads of advice.

What are you eating when you’re trying to be “good” is it a case of it not being enough and that is why you’re ravenous?

I am going to try and persevere with giving up dieting but when I did it earlier in the year - a month of going to the gym 4 times per week plus eating v healthily and not drinking at all it made no difference to my size/weight/shape which was really dispiriting.

I have tried low carb and found it v good but not sure how realistic it is as a way of life because I love carbs! I suspect for me it’s aboyt finding a way of managing carbs rather completely giving up.
