hi I really struggle with food and eating. I am 5 ft 3 and weigh 10 stone. a good one stone over weight. I think about my weight constantly and food constantly and it's not normal. it gets me very down and I stop myself from doing things because I think I look like a fat pig. I'm obsessed with thinking about it. I'll sit at my desk in work and I can feel the fat hanging over my trousers and I feel like crying. I'm curious - anyone out there around 5ft 3 ish what do you eat in a normal day?

Hi @Tiredmummy06. You sound a bit fed up and I do feel for you-have been there.
I am relaxed most of the time (I enjoy and think about food a lot!!) but post-Christmas/holidays etc I try to be a bit stricter with myself as I can't do up my trousers anymore. So a typical day would be overnight oats with nuts, milk, fruit and a teaspoon of honey for breakfast; a big salad with chicken/boiled eggs/tuna for lunch, with soup on the side or a yoghurt as a mid afternoon snack; "normal" dinner but with smaller portions (so pasta/curry/jacket potatoes/stir fry) and loads of veg. You can check recommended serving sizes online and then weigh stuff out before cooking, it's amazing how portion sizes creep up. I try to keep busy, eat slowly and drink lots of water and herbal tea so I don't snack, and take a walk every day.
There's diet boards on here too that you could look at too, I think?
Good luck and don't beat yourself up about your weight, be kind to yourself and try and make some small changes Thanks

I’m small in height than you but on average I eat 520g protein tons of veggies plenty of fats and at least 3 ltrs of water a day.

Strongbeatsskinny · 29/03/2018 12:59

Oh carbs oats, rice, sweet potato no pasta it gives me bloated stomach and awful stomach cramping so I’d rather be eating food that agrees with my digestive system and not putting in through unnecessary pain

I'm taller than you but I don't think that matters too much when you're thinking about what you eat. On an average day I have:

B: Greek yoghurt, big handful berries, tiny sprinkle of granola (literally a teaspoon), two coffees made with skimmed milk or coconut milk

L: home-made soup with a couple of small rye crackers or a big salad with cold meat, avocado, olives, etc and the usual veg ingredients. A piece of fruit.

D: Any healthy dinner cooked fresh (we use the Hairy Dieters books a lot, I can't recommend them enough). Could be all sorts of things (different sorts of curry, chicken schnitzel, stews, chilli, fish etc) but always with loads of veg and minimal carbs. I eat until I'm full but never have seconds. Then another piece of fruit. Once a week we'll just have home-made veg soup and home-made bread (always with butter).

Drink loads of water, builder's tea, green tea and my two coffees a day. A skinny cappuccino if I'm out.

We eat out once a week and are much more relaxed about what we eat then, although I do try to pick something reasonably healthy off the menu and don't stuff carbs down my throat. I will always have pudding then if there is something I fancy, otherwise I don't bother.

Typical breakfast: bowl of oats with a banana and a few raisins plus five almonds and milk and cinnamon.
Lunch: couple of small toasts with hummus or cheese or 1 or 2 eggs or all three and tomato or other fruit.
Snack: if I'm hungry I'll have one eg fruit/chocolate flapjack/naked bar
Dinner: bean burger and pitta or maybe a couple of sausages with potatoes and carrots. Or a whole pizza.
Pudding: every few days some chocolate or a bit of whatever the bf brings in.
Drinks: one glass of orange juice most days with lunch, water, tea and coffee.

I'm 5'3 and very sedentary at the moment. Am about a size 10-12 and pregnant. Not suggesting the above is in any way a brilliant diet!

tiedmummy there have been lots of threads on here that show people can be the same height and weight but look totally different, having said that 5ft3 and 10 stone really isn't that overweight? Def try to be kinder to your self like PP said Flowers

I think about diets and stuff too much so cant really offer advice but it does seem that maybe some of the books about diets and eating might be good for you to read - there is one about being a goddess - will link later.

My food was totally random today - be bfree chia wrap with avocado, hummous and baby leaves, lunch braised turnips (!) and chicken, dinner was more chicken with salad.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2018 22:18

sorry I meant food and emotions, not food and diet Confused

This is the book I was talking about goddess revolution it's actually by someone who used to be on hollyoaks but is quite good. Possibly there are better books though.

I’m 5.3 and was 11 stone at Christmas, now 9.5 stone and don’t want to lose anymore. I found upping my protein intake, especially at lunchtime, really helped me to stop craving sugar as much. So chicken breast without skin, tablespoon of peri peri marinade on it with a salad with teaspoon of olive oil and pinch of salt works out at about 250 calories and really fills me up. Previously I’d have had a shop bought sandwich with about 550 calories and been starving a few hours later. I also swapped white rice for brown (took a while to adjust but I now prefer it) cut down on portions , two roast potatoes instead of 5! and limit sugary snacks, one or two pieces of dark chocolate instead of a whole bar of Wispa everyday. Good luck
Op.
