No longer obese, but still a long way to go

Now I'm only overweight!

Still have 2.5 stone to go, maybe a bit more.

How would you keep motivated? I've already lost 2 stone so I'm trying to think "nearly halfway there" but some days it's overwhelming.

Well done you! That's amazing. Can you write a list of all the things that are better in your life now? Is it easier to run around/buy clothes etc?

Well done! It's a massive achievement and you should be proud. My tip for motivation would be to keep reminding yourself of the work you've put in, and what a waste it would be to give up now. Each time you're tempted away from healthy choices, remember that feeling of pride and happiness from stepping on the scales and seeing your weight get closer to a healthy range. When I was overweight, I had a screenshot of my bmi (the NHS chart that has OVERWEIGHT in angry capitals) as my phone wallpaper, and that helped to keep me focus.

Well done again and good luck with the rest of your journey!

Hi, well done! I'm in pretty much the same position. Have lost 3 stone since having dc3 and am now "only" overweight. I maintained pretty much all through February but am back in the right frame of mind now and started the 16:8 and am loving it and have lost 5lb taking me closer to my much wanted goal. I've got 1st12lb to lose to be healthy bmi but I want to lose 2st5lb ideally to get a nice bit under the top line.

16:8 isn't for everyone but I can honestly say I feel great and feel its something I'll stick to forever. I can change it around if needed too which I love.

Well done you! Remember, it's a marathon not a sprint. It's life changing. You no longer eat like you used to. Dont rush headlong for your target weight. Learn to love your new way of eating and the way it majesvyou feel because, if you're to get slim and stay slim, you'll need to eat this way forever.

I've list 4st since May and maintained since Dec. It's bloody hard but I love being slim! (Oh the clothes I can wear!) I'm excited for my first ever slim summer! I still binge occasionally (like a days calories plus 3500 to 5000 on top) but I reign it back in.

Lots of luck. Embrace the healthier new you!

Thanks! I do need to eat.pile this forever, and I'm mostly ok with that. I used to binge on chocolate and cakes, and it made me feel horrible. I don't want to be that way again.

I used to do intermittent fasting, but I've changed methods and now I'm doing boring calorie counting. It's working well for me, I like knowing exactly where I'm at throughout the day.

Recently I've noticed I can't eat as big of portions of food as before. I definitely didn't have full blown binge eating disorder, but I frequently ate far too much until my stomach was painfully full. Can't really do that on 1700 cals/day.

I'm trying to lose the baby weight as well, but I was overweight when I got pregnant so I need to get below pre-baby weight.

People are starting to notice, which is motivating. I'm starting to recognise myself in the mirror again!

Well done, that’s brilliant!

I’ve lost 1.5 stone and the other day my bmi ticked over into ‘normal’ not ‘overweight’ for the first time in years. I was so happy!! No one is noticing, or at least not saying they are. I still have a stone to go, although I’ll see how I am as I continue losing weight. My biggest motivator is clothes- do you have a pair of pre-diet jeans? Keep them and try them on periodically to see how far you’ve come! I also have a target pair on the go, so I find a pair that are a bit tight and try them on every few weeks. The pair I wore today didn’t do up when I first wore them; today I took them off without undoing the button! I find that to be extremely motivating, as sometimes the numbers are not always obvious to look at, but you can’t argue with inches!
