China Study/Forks Over Knives/Whole Food Plant Based?

Is anyone else doing the whole food plant based lifestyle change, as outlined in the China Study, Forks Over Knives, Happy Herbivore, Engine 2 Diet etc....

I’ve been vegan for years and have been a real lover of vegan junk food, cheeses, ice creams, cakes etc.... if it was new to the market, I had to try it!

I had some limited success with a vegan keto diet, but it’s not sustainable long term. Hence this total lifestyle overhaul.

So it’s whole foods only and no added oil from here on out. I’m a few days in already and feeling really good.

Is anyone else doing anything similar? I have about 80 pounds to loose in total to go from a big size 18, to a 10.

I made the Puerto Rican beans last night from the whole foods cookery show. Bland. This may, of course, be because I substituted the jalapeno chilies for another type. Her recipes don't seem to have any salt (direct or from stock) - which is good when you are used to it...anyway I added salt - still bland. Then added hot chilli powder - better!

On a more positive note the mushroom and potato soup was even better second time - often the way that recipes are better after a day or so!

I really need to go back and finish the FOK cookery course (I failed to complete within the 3 months so now activities can't be graded (unless I pay and extra $40 for a month) but I still have full access to the lessons). That may be one for May half term and beyond though.

I also tried the Kallo Lentil Cakes and found I really liked them. Too much.

I've been daydreaming about going to some kind of perfect retreat (with expert instruction and support) where I can immerse myself in WFPB eating and cooking 100% in addition to being 100% compliant with the other things I want to do (swimming, Pilates, physio exercises etc) for 7-10 days. Meanwhile, at home, my house is being deep cleaned and all those little jobs finished off...Lazy option of course - I've got all the tools I need to get this done myself!

The bottom line is I need to start losing weight again. What's holding me back from that? Those odd few snacks I sneak and portion sizes. Snacking whilst cooking dinner/lunch! I shall start having a proper meal when I am hungry rather than a snack because it isn't time yet. Going to start writing down when I eat non compliant foods too (or are tempted to) and why.

Yesterday I had:

B: porridge, chopped apple, berries, few chopped nuts, plant milk
L: Mushroom & potato soup with wholemeal bread (too many slices - started eating them when soup was cooking and bread probably needs to go anyway)
D: Wholegrain rice and puerto rican beans (small portion eaten late due to the lentil cake snack-a-thon)

but I also had...some fruit, lentil cakes with tomato salsa (half a packet!), a brunch bar (non compliant), few square of 70% dark chocolate and 4 jaffa cakes (non compliant).

I also didn't have my usual salad for lunch or steamed veg with dinner. Oh and I didn't go swimming in the evening.

All this adds up to NOT losing weight!

Sorry - I know that was long! Needed to lay it bare and give myself a telling off!
