Too fat to go to job interview - lack of confidence

Hello,

Just hoping for a few words of encouragement as I have completely lost my bottle and am thinking of withdrawing from an interview for a fab new job.

Since having my baby a year ago, my weight has rocketed to 16 stone and I'm just stuck in a cycle of comfort eating and hating myself.

I have a job interview for a fantastic opportunity and I just can't get past the fact that I look like a mess.

I'm frustrated that I haven't sorted myself out and that I'm even thinking of cancelling my interview.

How can I pull myself out of this? If anyone has any suggestions for losing weight, in the longer term I would love to hear them.

This has been so reassuring to read. I've considered posting to ask if I'm not getting jobs because of my weight.
I've been for 2 interviews last month and I haven't got either job despite being well qualified and experienced. I'm starting to feel fed up that my weight might be a factor.

Goodness. If no-one employed overweight people there would be a distinct lack of workforce! In my office there would be a good 50% reduction at least.
Thankfully we are employed for our ability to deal with complex situations and our body weight doesn't come into it. Grin
Just find an outfit that you feel best in. It doesn't have to be perfect ,just comfortable and smart enough to look like you've made an effort.
You say you are all prepared already and that's the most important thing you can do. The rest is window dressing.
Good luck on Wednesday .

To put it bluntly: they don't care what you look like. Don't get in the way of your own success Thanks

Here's my story ...... I was offered an interview in London just before Christmas. I've lost 4 1/2 stone in th last few years, put back on a wee bit, and am currently a solid size 16. As someone said before, the interviewer doesn't know your weight history, and if worth their own weight in gold wouldn't judge you for it.

I went to London in a black dress, designer but bought from eBay and I thought it looked great. Covered up with a coat from H&M, wee bit disappointed to have to buy an 18 as the 16 didn't let me move my arms! Borrowed a lovely handbag from a friend. Off I went .....

You know what ...... no-one paid any attention to me. Which is good. I was one of a million folk going about their business.
Well, the check-in staff at the airport did love my bag, but that's about it.

Lesson learnt #1 ...... if you get offered the interview, they already think you're a pretty good match for the role. This is your chance to convince them so.
Lesson learnt #2 ....... don't wear 4" heels on the escalators to the Tube, you'll look like Bambi (or maybe that's just me!)

Good luck!

Op - I’m 16 stone. I had an interview for my dream job last week and got it.

Go for it!

I've also rocked the bambi look on the escalators Grin

I'm currently 13 stone (5ft3) and very conscious of my weight. I went for a job interview and they were both slim so I felt enormous and also awkward due to the gigantic heels which I don't normally wear. Felt like I looked like Mrs Doubtfire. Haven't heard back from them yet.
