Weaning BF DD (6 mths) can i go on Slimfast?

Hi,
I started weaning my 6 mth old DD about 2 weeks ago however, i do intend to continue breastfeeding till she is at least 1 years old. Whilst i lost all the baby weight in the first couple of months i then found BF made me so hungry i ate loads and i now want to shift the weight i've gained in time for when i go back to work in september.
I know lots of people don't like slimfast as it doesn't really teach good eating habits but i did use it a few years ago for about 6 months and i lost 3 or 4 stone.
Want i'd like to know is whether it will effect BF as obviously i won't do it if it will.

You really don't need to do something that drastic - just cut back a bit. It could affect your milk production if you go on an extreme diet but moreover, you'll be exhausted and ratty and not able to cope with your daughter. Thin is good, happy is better.

best thing to do with bfding is to eat small, v. healthy regular meals.

I wouldn't use slim fast until you have stopped feeding.

If you want support while doing it is it worth going to a weight watchers/slimming world type group (after checking with your gp first).

Thanks for your messages, i know that eating healthily is the proper way to lose weight, it's just a lot easier said than done, i'm a bit of an 'all or nothing' kind of girl so i find slimfast really easy to stick to as it will be all i have other than some fruit until dinner time.

Hi Emma

I'm the same. But I've decided being thin is what I am meant to be. I'm going to see a hypnotherapist tomorrow to see if that'll help too. But I'm already filled with some strange determination. We've had a box of really nice chocolate biccies in the house for a week and I haven't touched them. Very spooky!

Good luck with however you decide to do it (NB you know that Slimfast trains your body to crave simple sugars and increases your fat percentage by bombarding your system with insulin on a regular basis).
