Is anyone else constantly cold after losing weight?

Hi,

So I've lost about 20lbs since the New Year but now I'm constantly cold. Does your body rebalance itself after a while so you stop feeling freezing or am I doomed to wander about the house wearing a blanket for ever?

Thanks

I think it depends on how thin you actually are now - sounds like you are a bit underweight.

crackerjacket · 06/02/2018 14:59

So you've lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks?!

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/02/2018 18:19

I've lost 4 stone over the last 8 months and I definitely feel the cold more now.

I’ve also lost 4st since last year this is my first winter at quite a low BMI and I am not cold, I’m freezing constantly.

I just can’t warm up. I’ve taken to wearing thick thermal socks, gloves and hat all the time when I’m outside with plenty of layers.

Watching with interest tho at your question as I also would love to know.

BTW are you doing a low carb diet? I know this can sometimes be a side effect.

Def think I'm colder the weeks I'm losing weight... So, have been stress eating like mad the past week and not so cold but the past couple of months generally I've been SO cold.

And it's not cause I'm too thin - I could do with losing another 2-3 stone I think.

I suppose it would make sense really - there is less fat to insulate the body .I am lucky in that I have never had a weight problem - but I always feel the cold.

CougheeBean · 06/02/2018 19:06

Yes definitely. I loved winter when I was bigger, now I’m shivering every timei leave the house.

@crackerjacket Lol me underweight - I'm currently 19st which is also how I lost so much weight so quickly - by having oodles to lose.

@duck I suppose I am doing a low carb diet but without specifically thinking about it - mostly I'm upping my veg intake (lots of soup) and lowering how many carbs I eat and also trying to cut down sweets/crips/chocolate/fast food etc. but not completely banning it.

It does sound like I shall be chilly for the next wee while - I'll have to invest in some thermals Smile

If you are limiting carbs and under a certain number of gs. (I think it’s about 60g) it’s possible your body’s in ketosis fat burning mode.

You’ve lost a lot of weight very quickly and being cold is a symptom so it could be possible maybe?

Yes thermals may be a good option. I bought a set of full fleece pjs from primark that I get into as soon as possible and they definitely help. It’s very bitter cold today so hot water bottle is coming out.

Congratulations on your loss, your doing fantastic

It is very cold today

RenaissanceBunny · 06/02/2018 21:37

Thanks for the responses everyone

and yeah I suspect the snow on the ground is making it feel somewhat cold too.

I am in exactly the same boat as you, freezing cold right leg, to the point of painful. Got 2 stone to lose, then would be 10 stone, not slyph like, but this iceberg feeling is so horrid.
