So I want to lose weight and I thought going for a run in the evening might help with it because I've struggled with weight loss and exercise. I get tired very easily and just want to get fit and lose weight but I feel like I'll get laughed at. Sounds silly but I do and I don't want this thought to make me give up. And how do you even run 'correctly' is there a right or wrong way to run? Lol

"Which c25k app is everyone recommending?"

I didn't use this one, but everyone I know who has used 'Zombies! Run!" thought it fabulous.

It’s really, really normal to get out of breath at first. Also, if you havent had heavy breathing due to exercise before it can be a bit scary - sometimes a beginner’s only experience of heavy breathing is from anxiety.

If I see someone running, anyone, I just mentally add “go for a run” to my list of things to do.

Have you managed to get out and give it a try??

Couch to 5k all the way. And don't worry about repeating weeks - if it takes you six months to complete it that's fine, just keep on keeping on and you'll gradually improve! When you start it might seem impossible that one day you can run for half an hour without stopping, but you'll get there. Push that little bit harder each time and your stamina will build.

Think about it - running for twenty minutes non-stop is a big ask if you're not a runner. But if you can run for two minutes, then drop back to a walk for a minute, and repeat that ten times then voila you've run for twenty minutes! And those twenty minutes will all add up to improving your fitness and ability to run for longer the next time. Good luck.

My friend is part of a running community called Too Fat To Run and has just come back from an overseas trip - she is currently doing the Run Every Day challenge and says it has changed her life.
