Baby is nearly 4 weeks old so I have decided I need to cease eating excess choc/cake/biscuits in order to shift some of the preg weight

Any tips on how to survive??

Also need suggestions for a snack I can eat at 5pm as we don't eat our main meal til 8.30pm at the earliest

If you're still BF you shouldn't be trying to lose weight. But obvisouly trying to eat healthly is good. I went straight back to eating a normal, if a little restricted, diet straight after the birth in order to lose weight and the midwife said I was daft and should eat a healthy diet, especially as I was anaemic.
I'd fill up on filling foods like porridge/museli/tuna and salad sandwich, yoghurts bananas, pork and steak for iron and wholemeal bread, pasta and rice. If you want to BF you're milk will dwindle if you don't eat enough calories but you can always have things like tea cakes as a treat to add calories but that aren't too bad for you.

Thanks lucie but I thought the whole diet affecting breastmilk thing was rubbish

I need to lose weight for my health and I will probably breastfeed for over a year

ah the blonde... give yourself a break, it takes 9 months for us all to get this way,, it will take at least a year for us to get back to normal. ill bet there a very few people who are happy with their bodys' post baby, but look what their body managed to achieve,, a gorgeous little one...
#Just try and eat sensible ,but dont go crazy

best of luck

I would ditch the biscuits and try and have healthier snacks, like cheese or peanut butter sandwiches. At least you get protein instead of just empty calories... Dried fruit is also quite calorific so good for energy, without the fat content of cakes/biscuits...

I'm in the same situation. I'm bfing 13week DS but after two pregnancies I'm very overweight. I want to lose it gradually and obviously bfing DS is priority. The problem is that I have an incredibly sweet tooth while bfing (was the same while bfing DD) and the sleep deprivation means very little willpower on my part!

flibertygibbetplus2 - agree that the bf sweet tooth is a killer.
