Hi Folks,

Started Weight Watchers (at home) yesterday and exercise (have a stepper and rowing machine).

Have failed starting diets soooo many times ? really piled on the weight when pregnant with dd (5 fecking stone!!) and have a LOT of weight to loose.

I feel really really determined this time. Im getting married next year so obviously this is a huge incentive. Is it possible to loose about 6 stone (ideally) in a year with dedication? ? it sounds impossible. am I kidding myself?

Also, I know it probably sounds stupid but has anyone any success stories they would like to share? I just find it really inspirational to hear other achieving their goal.

Thank you xxxx

Was 12 stone 10lbs on January the first.
Am 10 stone 2lbs this morning.

All due to Gillian McKeith diet, using a gym three times a week and cutting portion sizes.

My target is 9 stone 7lbs, and I hope to get there by end of May!

I put on 4.5 stone when I was pregnant with my DTS 3 years ago. I went back to work when they were 7 months and I had lost all but 10lb of the extra weight through following weightwatchers at home and exercising (running outdoors and exercising to DVDs). It took another 6 months to lose the last 10lb (I'm in the process of shedding 7lb after a self indulgent period over winter).

As long as you are honest with sticking to your points, move around and exercise to gain bonus points, you will easily lose all that weight by next year.

Buy the weightwatchers magazine or go to the website to read success stories.

Good luck!

Well done you! I used the baby weight as an excuse it was just the idea that my baby is turning 3 soon that made me realise the excuse was getting old.

I find it hard to think in stones (rather than kilos) but with both my pregnancies, I put on a HUGE amount of weight - I think, in stones, about 3-4 stone and I was only 9 and a half stone to start with. I was pregnant twice in two years - I have always had a large appetite though had never (up to that point) been hugely overweight but for some reason used the pregnancies as an excuse to eat my way through most of the restaurants in London (and the takeaways and the deliveries...think you get the idea ).

Anyway, when ds was 3, I saw a picture of myself and felt really crap. Decided to do something about it and started charging about with the double buggy everywhere and the weight started to fall off. After around a year, I was back down to 10 stone permanently and it's taken a few years to get under that and stay there (though I'm starting to get near it again). My main incentive was to try and fit back into a size 12 again and I can (just about) do that now.

I would aim for a certain size and keep a passing eye on your weight. Worst thing is weighing yourself too often I think!

Having realistic targets is really motivating. I just wanted to get back into my size 12 clothes again in time for work and become fitter. To motivate me with the running, I ran 5k and 10k races as training for an event helped to focus my mind. When I started running I could hardly run 50 yards but within 3 months I ran a 5k race and 2 months later,10k.

Also break down the weight loss into chunks and don't think about all the weight you have to lose. Treat each 7lb as a target itself and give yourself a non-food reward when you achieve it, e.g. a new lipstick.

i was 12 11 at the end of august and am now 10. i used cross trainer machine religiously to build up fitness and now go running. no particular diet just stopped eating bread and all processed food. porridge for breakfast soup for lunch that kind of thing.
