Breakfast ideas please

I am trying to lose weight and am getting sick of eggs for breakfast.

What other healthy, low carb, easy to prepare, breakfasts can I eat please?

Beans on toast (never feel like them early on)?
Mushrooms on toast (ok once in a while but a bit of a faff)?

I've nailed low carb/healthy lunches and suppers. Just don't think I have the time to plan breakfasts microscopically too!

Any other ideas pls?

Try rye bread for your toast it's much easier to digest than wheat bread (see Wheat Belly by William Davis M.D.)

Maybe grilled tomatoes on toast or ready sliced turkey\chicken with tomatoes\mushrooms no toast!

Quick omelette with mushrooms .

DailyFailcanbogoff · 19/07/2017 14:46

That's a very good idea about the rye bread Ppeat - should have thought of that! - and thank you for book link. I like the sound of grilled toms on toast too.

I've just thought of perhaps making a low carb kedgeree as well (if not a contradiction in terms).

There are so many ways of preparing eggs, have your mixed it up a bit?
My current fave is a 2 egg omelette with a tiny amount of feta and tomatoes inside.

The Body Coach had a recipe for porridge made with all sorts of things that aren't oats, it's delicious and really filling.

DailyFailcanbogoff · 19/07/2017 15:07

Thanks Titsalina no I just have just been boiling and scrambling which probably explains why I am bored! Thanks for the tips!

I've thought of another: sliced mango

Don't get too constrained by the word 'breakfast'. If you'd normally have it for lunch, dinner or any other time, you can have it for breakfast too. I eat sardines and spinach for breakfast if I fancy it Blush

I sometimes have an omelette. Sometimes do one and top with yoghurt and frozen fruit or else put bacon, mushroom and serve on spinach.

Egg muffins. I make them the night before. 4 beaten eggs with salt and pepper. Fill a silicon muffin tray with whatever you want to put in it. I love spring onion, ham and spinach. The. Pour the eggs over and bake for 20 minutes on 180.

QuiteLikely5 · 19/07/2017 15:19

Bread and beans are not low carb.

Mushroom/a few cherry toms fried with egg and cheese is good

A few slices of bacon

Ham and cheese

Is it low carb or low calorie?

DailyFailcanbogoff · 19/07/2017 15:29

Thanks all!

Good point about the beans on toast Quitelikely Blush. I suppose I am trying to avoid stacks of toast and jam! I am just trying to eat healthier food in smaller quantities.

Thanks for muffin recipe Groovee! (especially useful if can pre prep night before)

Yes, I need to get in to that mindset Stevie69 although you are braver than me eating sardines for breakfast (although love them at other times!!).

That's the problem really, I never feel on particularly good form until well after 11 am Grin

Proper meaty sausages, bacon, with mushrooms and a few fried cherry toms.

eggs bake in the oven with bit of cream/ cheese/ slice of avocado,

You can have a bit of mushrooms and few fried cherry toms.

Cauliflower boiled and well drained and finely mashed, (I cook extra the night before to use) mix in some egg to bind and whatever flavouring you like then drop blobs in a frying pan and cooked til crispy on both sides and use as pretend bread for a few rashers of bacon or whatever you fancy.

Protein shake when you can't face a cooked breakie!

I absolutely swear by over night oats. I used to be hungry and snacking by mid- morning now I not even hungry at lunch time.

FinallyHere · 19/07/2017 16:56

Are you hungry for breakfast? Since starting low carb., I find myself less and less so, and then someone recommended this book o er on the low carb bootcamp threads

Mashed avocado on rye toast is nice, I like it with a slice of really crispy bacon. Full fat Greek yoghurt with some blueberries and seeds.
Or, you could try skipping breakfast, I try to do 16:8 (eating between 12 and 8) and it works well for me. I find that I can easily go till 12 without feeling hungry, whereas if I eat breakfast, that sort of triggers the hungry switch in me and I end up snacking all morning then not eating a decent lunch because I'm not that hungry, then consequently snacking in the afternoon. I appreciate that some people do need breakfast though and this approach doesn't work for everyone.

Mashed Avacado and tuna

DailyFailcanbogoff · 19/07/2017 18:43

Thank you for latest replies. I'm sometimes hungry at breakfast, sometimes not, but I never feel like anything challenging iyswim (such as avocado). Definitely recognise the connection between hunger and carb consumption though.

Thank you for the links and tips! I quite like the sound of the cauliflower fritters!

I will experiment with missing breakfast on my non-hungry mornings and see how it goes... .
