Any nutritionists / dietitian around?

Hello! If anybody could recommend me an online dietitian/ nutritionist (or if you're one!) That would be ideal!! I been struggling to keep my weight on (I don't want to lose too much) and just eating more treats is not doing much :/ So I need a proper plan. I'm also a runner and I run around 40mi per week and do strength training 3 hours a week giver or take. Tia!

Hi Tia,

if you are running 40 miles a week, and strength training; you need to eat well and not just treats .... but good quality food. Search on the web for sites like ExRx or ACE [ good sources of information]; to learn more about food types and how to calculate the daily calorie intake that you need, dependent on your age, lifestyle [work type - sedentary v active] and body type [ectomorph, mesomorph or endomorph].
I doubt you are an endomorph if you are running as far as you say.

Try to eat every few hours in the day and ensure that you have some protein at each meal to ensure that you are not losing muscle mass. Losing muscle will reduce your strength overall and hinder whatever targets or goals you have. As muscle burns more calories than other tissues types changes to your body composition will affect your basal metabolic rate.

Be aware of over-training as this in itself can be counterproductive and frustrate progress. Split training to provide rest days. I am not aware of your age but excessive training can cause amenorrhea which itself is indicative of the body responding in a negative way to the excess stress it is finding itself under.

Sleep is also overlooked as an essential part of the repair and recuperation process and allows to the body to build tissue in response to the physical stress - ensure you get enough !
