Belly fat reduction?

Chimichangaz · 21/06/2017 20:54

I'm around 10lb overweight, I'm 5'3 aged 51 and the majority of my weight is on my tummy. I've done low fat dieting before and lost weight, but my tummy is always my problem area.

I used to exercise several times a week but have had an Achilles' tendon problem so have laid off for the last few months. However I'm joining a gym this weekend as I want to do some yoga classes, and some weights - maybe a body pump class.

Is there a good way to lose belly fat or can you only lose weight in general? I hate my muffin top and wobbly tummy!

I also want to know this!!! I always carry weight on my stomach no matter how much I weigh. What exercise can we do to burn this!

Chimichangaz · 22/06/2017 06:18

Anyone got any ideas?

Low carving always shrinks my belly from curved and sticking out to flat in a few days

HammerToFall · 22/06/2017 06:22

Carbing not carving

Low carb higher fat seems to hrl5o my stomach.

I do eat catbs but only those in fruit and veg. I try and not eat too much fruit but plenty of veg. The 16/8 fast also seems to shrink my stomach.

help

You can't spot reduce fat (unfortunately - or I would have gazelle like thighs!). You just have to try to lose fat generally and eventually it will come off your problem area. However, it tends to come off everywhere else first! I've let almost all my fat apart from on my thighs and bum. It has reduced a good bit but is still some there.

the only time I ever lost my tum was when I was compulsively doing hula hooping on the wii fit!!

WallisFrizz · 22/06/2017 20:08

Agree with pp. Low carb diets are tummy fat busters.

If you look up the blood sugar diet or Atkins, take an approach like that. You will see quick results but there is no room for cheating.

Chimichangaz · 22/06/2017 21:20

Thanks all - will have a look. Not heard of the blood sugar diet. The problem is, I think of carbs as being potatoes, pasta and bread and it now seems soooo much more complicated than that Confused

I think it's the processed carbs which are especially bad - but if you want to eat lower carb, the obvious culprits that you've mentioned are a good place to start too. Some veg is more carby than others, but generally speaking, if you cut out the obvious ones and limit your fruit, that should help loads. Good luck, I'd love to low carb but I literally last about 2 hours and then can't take it any longer!!

Chimichangaz · 24/06/2017 22:49

Yes Flighty I too love my carbs, esp white bread...

I've bought the Michael Mosley book so gonna give that a shot. Not sure how successful I'll be...
