Really dont want anyone to slate me but just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. I am 42 and have bee on numerous diets over the
past few years as I found it harder to keep my weight down, basically I have slightly disordered eating, have a history of sticking to diets for about 3 weeks, losing a small amount then putting it back on etc. I am in the process of coming off Citolopram which hasn't helped. I am now heavier than I have ever been, 9st6 (on scales in Boots a bit less on my scales in the morning) and feel that I need to lose aout a stone to look and feel good. I am a small build, 5ft5 tall and do not carry weight well am pretty much a size 12 at at this weight. Son told me today that I look a quarter pregnant and said that my tummy is as big as my boobs. Have decided (prior to horrid comments from my Son) to try and just cut down a bit on food, writing down what I eat and making healthier choices without getting too hung up about it as diets make me panic tbh. I have still eaten some more unhealthy food and had some alcohol but less overall than normal. Feel it is better to do it this way rather than losing weight and completly falling off the wagon, getting run over by the wagon and gainig it (I say all I only manage to lose a couple of pounds) back with interest Just wondering if anyone else is trying to do the same thing, have been slated on here for my eating in the past so will not be posting food diaries but I am being aware of healthier options. Would be great to have some buddies if anyone else is trying to do the same. TBH dont care if it takes me several months to lose a stone. Re exercise I typically do a lot of walking (dont drive), usually in excess of 10,000 but am unable to find much time for formal exercise. Would love to hear from others in a similar position.

I've planned before to loose half a pound a week. I can't remember the exact starting weight, but I planned for it to take about 6 months to get back in shape and in the end it took a little bit less. I calorie counted everything I ate, and jumped on the exercise bike in the evenings if I'd over-eaten. I was hungry a lot, and couldn't fathom how anyone could aim to loose weight faster and still function / have the will power.

The weight stayed off until I had DC. Like you, I would like to loose about a stone.

I am currently trying to eat a bit less, without actually calorie counting, and it isn't working. At all.

Yes, planned to loose 1kg a month for 8 months (so total 8kg weight loss to get to my target). 4 months in I've lost 6kg with diet (stopped drinking fizzy drinks, made slightly more space on my plate for veg, but haven't changed what I eat) and exercise. These last few kg are proving difficult impossible to shift, but I know that at least my weight is staying the same (not increasing) and in a few weeks I'm hoping to have lost another 500g. I'm still on target for my 8kilo overall weight loss so don't feel like I've failed yet

Yes. I have been mindful about what I eat. Started off keeping a food diary and thinking why I was eating everything before I ate it.

I realised that a lot of what I ate was convenient food for the family and I did not really like it. Started eating what I wanted, the healthy option. I have cut down on wine in the evenings.

In four months I have lost 12lbs and have never felt I have been on a diet. I want to keep going and loose another stone. I also try and only weigh myself once a week.

Two pounds down but think that is at least partly down to AF. Have fallen off the wagon today, but tryng not to dwell in it, in process of coming off ADs so having days when I struggle with my mood. Aiming for a small loss even if it is 0.2kg, Boots scales show in kilos as well for next week

I lost and kept off 11kg from Jan 2016 to now. I have another 4-5 kg to lose that I would like gone by Christmas.

I found losing it slowly way more sustainable. Another tip that massively helped me was to look at my food intake over a week - so that if I did have a day of eating excessively, I could pull it back across the next few days.

I made the mistake of weighing myself st home. TBH have fallen off the wagon over a he weekend as had too much chocolate and Dominos. Also went to a global buffet last night, but did ikush there. Struggling with my mood which hasnt helped. Will continue. Will stick to weighing myself in Boots on a Thursday

At the beginning of this year I weighed 12 stone 9 pounds. Weight just kept creeping on. I felt so unhealthy and I suffered from some stress incontinence (nice), acid reflux and shortness of breath. I knew I would not be able to diet so decided to take the long term view and lose the weight slowly. To date I have lost 21 pounds, with another 16 pounds (ish) to go.

I eat two meals a day - lunch tends to be soup with a little bit of bread or salad. Dinner - whatever I like. No chocolate but the occasional bit of cake, particularly if I have had a very active week. I walk at least 4 miles a day, but try to do more, so anything up to 8 miles a day if I have time. Drink 3/4 bottle of wine 3 times a week. I don't finish the plate if I am full, complete sea change for me!

Very slow weight loss but very doable and the small consistent effort and slight tweaking is paying off. I think I will lose the rest of the weight - might take me another 6 months, or longer. Not doing it for a quick fix, a holiday or an event, so will just carry on in this snail like way.

I no longer suffer from acid reflux or wee myself if I sneeze - that is better than the actual weight loss for me! I have so much energy and I am fitter than I have been for years. Yesterday I climbed up steep stairs from a beach - normally I would be a wreck at the top, but yesterday took it in my stride.

I regret getting so overweight in the first place, but also regret that I did not do this slow way of getting healthier before.

Sounds as if you are doing great. I am still here. About 3 pounds down in total, just cutting down a bit, trying to dress lots of walking and also taking Raspberry Ketone supplements to see if they help. Need to lose about another 8 pounds but a bit more would be great. Have no time limit, so aiming to lose it over a few months

Yes, have to remember it is a marathon not a sprint!

I have just been out for a 4 mile walk, including steep hills. This time last year, on a hot day like this, the most I would have done was go to the supermarket. The weight loss and improvement in fitness has been a life changer for me. I get on better with my OH because I go out a lot more and don't sit around at all. Another unexpected bonus - I don't get as hot.

Interestingly, my OH has also done the same and he has lost weight slowly too with just the small tweaks - he has lost a couple of pounds more than me but averages out at about 1/2 pound a week.

Octopus37 · 12/07/2017 21:41

Anyone still here? I have lost another pound. Now going to stick to the scales at home, weight on that now 9st first thing in the morning. Another pound by the end of July is my aim

Me! I've got 11lbs left to lose. Losing about 1lb a month now. Never gaining. Very slow but sure progress. Never feel deprived.

Octopus37 · 17/07/2017 11:52

Had a bad weekend, food wise socialising lid stress from a difficult situation which has resulted in me comfort eating, put on 3 pounds. No I need to persevere but just wish my body would cut me some slack when I have other shot to deal with. Still one pound in a month is 12 pounds in a year she says
