Is my excessive sweating because being overweight?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this..

Over the last couple of years I've experienced excessive sweating, mainly just my head/face/neck.
I'm literally dripping when it happens, which is usually during any form of exercise, even walking.

My weight has gradually crept up over the years and I'm now 194lbs at 5ft 9.

I am desperately trying to lose weight and it's coming off veeerry slowly....

Could this ridiculous amount of sweating be down to just being overweight?
Has anyone else experienced similar and found improvements after losing?

I'm loosely doing the blood sugar diet. So no sugar, no refined carbs, no processed crap or sugary drinks.
Also restricting calories to 800-1000 a day.

I am...or was a real sugar junkie and don't drink nearly enough water, that last one is proving hard for some reason.
I am quite an anxious person too, not much I can do about though.

Personally I find anxiety is a real sweating trigger.
Have you tried keeping a diary of when the sweating occurs, to see if there's a pattern?

If I do more than slightly wander about I'm sweating.
If I walk at a meaningful pace I really sweat! So it's activity that does it.

Bearing in mind I walked 10 miles over the hills in the sun yesterday (I was a drenched salty mess by the end) so not dreadfully unfit. I walked to the pub to meet friends a few days before, about 10mins and was dripping for several minutes before I cooled down and it wasn't that hot then.

If I want to stay looking normal I have to move at a snails pace.

I've always suffered from excess sweating. I've lost over 8 stone in the last year and become much physically fitter and still struggle with it but not to the same extent. It's a condition called hyperhidrosis if that helps?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but if OP is still around I wonder if you ever got to the bottom of this? In exactly the same boat and have been for a while.

Some people just sweat more than others

Meecrowavay · 19/09/2023 21:58

But I haven't always been like this. Late thirties onset. And it's primarily just my head and scalp. Not the rest of my body. My hair can be dripping wet from just hanging out some washing. It's really embarrassing and doesn't feel normal.

Hi Op here,
No I didn’t get to the bottom of it and still suffering.
I haven’t always been a sweaty person either and it’s face and scalp for me too.

Tried HRT, made no difference.
GP doesn’t seem to care.
I’m so sick of it, really debilitating.

Sorry just saw you replied @Mudmagnetoftheworld. Sorry also to hear that it's still an issue for you. It is indeed so de habilitating. I want to be more active but I feel like I have to do it where there's no danger of running into someone I know because its embarrassing how sweaty my head gets with the slightest exercise (and often even without exercise). I've had to start carrying kitchen roll sheets to quickly absorb the worst of the sweat as tissues don't cut it. It is a little bit better at this time of year though with it being colder outside. I was actually at the GP today for a follow up. They can't find a reason for mine either but I'm getting referred to dermatology. I'm not menopausal and all other bloods, thyroid, vitamin and iron levels etc are ok.

*debilitating 🤪
