Exercise and diet (I know everybody says that!). If you want a quick fix, counting calories is probably your best choice but unless you change your habits you'll gain that back. Are you on levothyroxine? How many spare hours do you get a week?

SoleBizzz · 07/05/2017 21:00

Calorie deficit. Test different plans. Cambridge diet is good

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 21:07

Yeah I am on them but they are struggling to get my levels up I'm on the highest dose the doctor can give me but not doing anything one more blood test and if not improvement then being referred to hospital. Yeah I've tried everything Its all my fault as I have no will power. Really not many hours due to jobs children and housework and struggling being tierd due to thyroid 😞 x

Cambridge diet is good

Really? Confused

OP; calories in less than calories out. I've lost 20lbs in six weeks on Slimming World. It's not for everyone as there is the whole rice / pasta / spuds thing which can throw weight loss if you're not careful. But overall it's about eating tons of veg, fruit and lean protein. You also have your syns to use as you wish. It's a really healthy lifestyle change rather than a crash diet which does fuck all to change long term eating habits.

charimito · 07/05/2017 21:13

I'm hypothyroid too, so I know the struggle. In the end I lost 3st and it took me 6 months! I started with gentle exercise and no real diet change (maybe I started skipping dessert but nothing major). The last 4 months I did change my diet and started eating around 1500 calories a day. That's how I lost the lost 2st I also exercise a lot, but that has only meant that I've developed a lot of muscle to the extent that BMI parameters are not relevant to me anymore. The point here is that you'll probably lose more weight than me ;)

SoleBizzz · 07/05/2017 21:15

You have chosen your calorie deficit. I and others have a right to choose what is best for us. .... You seem ignorant about Cambridge. I lost 84lb on SW and put 112lb back on. Lost 146lbon Cambridge kept off 98lb for seven years.. Go figure....

Pigwitch · 07/05/2017 21:17

I did slimming world. I lost 2.5 stone in 6 months. I've maintained it for 6 months

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 21:21

What you on about me being ignorant about Cambridge diet? I'm asking for advice not an argument!!

wankbadgers · 07/05/2017 21:22

sole I'm not denying anyone the right to choose their diet.

I've done Cambridge. It was fucking miserable. The products were beyond awful and the 'consultant' was morbidly obese.

Each to their own to find their way, I guess.

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 21:22

I've heard slimming world is really good but I don't want to go to the groups as my anxiety would be awful and hate doing new things with people I don't know on my own do you have to go to the groups?

wankbadgers · 07/05/2017 21:23

myla I think sole aimed that at me.

wankbadgers · 07/05/2017 21:24

Sorry, I posted before reading your last post.

The groups are not mandatory. I do not stay to group. There are plenty of people who feel the same and either weigh in and dash off or take a back seat during the group chat thing. Flowers

SoleBizzz · 07/05/2017 21:24

The if you've done Cambridge you'd know there are five food steps. My SW consultant was twenty stones.
I don't understand the urge to have a go at Cambridge aside from a place of sheer ignorance

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 21:25

Oh right I see now 😕

3boys3dogshelp · 07/05/2017 21:26

myla you can do slimming world online. I find it much better if I go to the group though.

wankbadgers · 07/05/2017 21:29

Lots of people have success with SW online. There was a thread on it a while ago. Personally I'd be too tempted to let the odd bottle glass of wine slip. Having to stand in front of someone and watch the numbers pop up on the scales is pretty much essential for keeping me on track.

If you want something more structured, I also hear good things about Weight Watchers which I believe works on a points system, again with a focus on a healthy balance.

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 21:30

See I don't drink only when we have a rare night out I hate wine ect but mine is more that I'm a fussy Eater don't eat fruit or salad not many vegetables and I'm always on the go so snack A lot on rubbish 😩

thisismadness77 · 07/05/2017 21:31

SW. 3 stone in six months. Wish I'd done it 20 years ago.

fueledbybacon · 07/05/2017 21:32

Stop with the calorie deficit dogma. It's temporary and if you do it long term you will slow your metabolism. Google biggest loser metabolism issues. The science, and I will post all the studies if need be, don't support it for long term weight loss.

OP my advice is to cut sugar in the form of refined sugar, starches and cereals. Eat plenty of meat, veg, good healthy fats like butter, eggs and avocado. The fat will keep you full for a lot longer than sugary and starchy foods.

I lost 97lbs this way btw.

SoleBizzz · 07/05/2017 21:35

Whatever works for each individual is best. Cambridge diet is not a crash diet.

charimito · 07/05/2017 21:38

We're all different and so is the way we find to lose those extra lbs/st

mylasmummy21 · 07/05/2017 22:04

I know we're all different just looking to see what people have found the best ways as I'm stuck for ideas
