I have a stone to loose and (post birth)doing ok finding it hard to pass the goodie press without my fingers dipping in all the time!! So this week i have turned to salted peanuts, Is this a good thing or bad? I know nuts are good for you but i dont think the salted ones are. Any advise on this is much appricated.

salted nuts are one of the WORST things you can have on a diet! Nuts are generally very high in fat anyway but the untreated ones are at least full of the 'good' fats. On a diet I'd eat untreated nuts and seeds very much in moderation but salted peanuts are a definite no-no. Sorry!

NotanOtter · 09/03/2007 15:38

is this a joke

LucyJones · 09/03/2007 15:39

try healthy nuts instead like cashews or walnuts

3andnomore · 09/03/2007 15:43

I agree, salted peanuts are very high in calories, and the salt is obvioulsy very bad for you.
calories in different sort of nuts and nut products

Moomin · 09/03/2007 15:44

calories in a 50g bag of salted nuts = 303

NotanOtter, no sorry this is no joke, never needed to diet untill DD came along and the added pounds went on..

I eat healthy but when your home all day the goodie haunt you! Will have to bin the nuts so. Chocolate is the worst i am craving it since having DD before that it never bothered me!!

think craving chocolate is a hormonal thing. I can take or leave it most of the time but after I had both dds for about 3 months I NEEDED a bar of choc every day (and now wonder why I'm 2st overwieght)... also crave it cometimes when have got pmt.

3andnomore · 09/03/2007 16:19

great thing for chocolate craving, cadburys chocoalte ricecakes...yum!
Also, with WW Curly Wurlys are reasobbale low points, therefore reasobable low in calories and saturated fat!
Alpen light Cereal bars are also very low points, and teh chocoalte orange one and the apple sultana ones are delicious...but be careful that it's the light one you pick up!

colette · 09/03/2007 16:33

zippitippitoes · 09/03/2007 17:05

olives might be better still salty but a bit healthier

MrsBadger · 09/03/2007 17:12

out of interest, why on earth do you still have a goodie press if you're trying to lose weight?

swap it for a fruit bowl!

We have alot of goodie in this house due to alot of visitors, hard to explain really. There seems to be someone here every evening. The front door in this house never closes. I have a fruit bowl and i love fruit eat alot of it, and i drink alot of water.
Going to start fresh again Monday and this time i am going to stick to it! Have a holiday coming up so have to get in shape.
I think being home with the kids all day has alot to do with the over eating aswell so some walking will have to be introduced.
Green and black choc i must give that ago.

We just don't offer anything nice (biscuits, cakes, chocs, etc) to our visitors because we don't have anything 'nice' in the house ! Think our friends are used to it now...
