Hi

I really need to lose a lot of weight. I want to do it for my 13month old son and for myself. But sometimes I cannot kick myself into starting.
I did SW a number of years ago and it worked well. Lost 3 stone for my sisters wedding. Since then I have got married and for many reasons have put weight back on. Tried it again before the pregnancy but didnt work could not get my head round it.

My question is which groups or methods do people use? What is the positives and negatives of them?

thanks

Lyn

Hello - have you read the Cambridge Diet Threads? I've just started 4 weeks ago and have lost 13lbs. Don't get me wrong it's very hard mentally as, if you do the sole source plan, you can only have 3/4 shakes/bars a day for 4 weeks at a time. However, it works quickly and the Cambridge Diet website is very informative and gives you all the details about how to find a counsellor (you have to go and get weighed and measured each week at their house). You don't have to exercise much (they say don't in the first few weeks)or you burn muscle instead of fat so that's another bonus until you get into it and then you can exercise moderately. It sounds drastic but if you do it (once you get into it you don't feel hungry) then the results are amazing but safe. The plan's aim is to help you change the way you eat and think of food for ever so it's about maintaining your lost weight and not just a quick fix approach to dieting. I asked my doc what she thought before I started and she was all for it. I wanted to lose weight quickly to see a good result before I adopted a healthier way of eating. Anyway have a read (thread 3 about the Cambridge Diet) and see what you think. Anyway - just thought I'd tell you about it. My baby weight is drastically shifting and it's a very nice feeling to be going down rather than up the scales! Good luck whatever you choose to do.
