Who's giving up chocolate?
Who's giving up crisps?
Who's giving up alcohol?
It's called fasting for 40 days. Good for the soul and may have slimming side effects.

I like the Ryvita with pumpkin seeds on - yumyum.

In order to avoid chocolate cake/dessert while having lunch at Tesco's, I tried an organic Yeo Vale strawberry yoghourt. It was very, very good!

Also, if you don't have time to make the rice salad, you can buy little bags of nuts and dried fruit. Not exactly low cal, but it is proper food rather than junk and can hit the spot you usually aim the chocolate at, iyswim.

BTW has any one been following the Lenten abstinence storyline in the Archers? There was some advice for keeping to one's resolution, the other day. Something about avoiding circumstances of temptation.

I've got some dried apricosta and some dried mixed fruit, funnily enough, I bought them to make some cornflake cakes with for the student social tonight and had loads of fruit left over and was planning on snacking on the rest!

Hurray, Sunday tomorrow!

Now did I remember to get some chocolate in?

You seem to host, or attend a lot of social events in the evenings Catmb. Much opportunity for imbibing and snacking. Ever thought of having a water-only evening? Much less preparation and clearing up!

Well DH and I supervise the Student Ministry Team at our church and that means supervising all the socials as well as the Bible Study group. We are also responsible for providing refreshments at the bible study group. Perhaps I should suggest a water only evening to them, I'm sure that will go down very well

Do I detect a hint of irony, Catmb?

Ever so slightly sloshed but feeling v virtuous all the same.

You sure do!
Still no more socials until the summer term, ans i hve a feeling tomorrow will be our last bible study for the year - we will be having a get together in the summer term, but the students will be to busy studying for exams to participate in the regular bible study.
Tomorrow we will be discussing sex in the Christian context - wish us luck

So how did you get on, Catmb? And have you kept all your resolutions?

Hmmm..
Takeaways - yes
Bread - yes
Alcohol - yes
Chocolate - no
Biscuits - no
Crisps - no

So not so good! I've been having a really intense craving for crisps, but not any old crisps, it has to be Asda's Extra Special sea salt and cider vinegar. Been having what seems like morning sickness as well...
This week, I have stayed the same, which I'm not too surprised at. Still I have been keeping up generally with my healthy eating drive which is good.

Elasticwoman · 14/03/2007 09:17

Twiglets are much less fatty than crisps. Do you like them?

I wonder if your craving is more to do with wanting salt?

I haven't had any chocolate for about 10 days and have lost the craving.

Good luck with TTC. Suppose you are taking the folic acid supplements?

Hmmmm - not going too well.

Giving up:

Cake - had homemade carrot muffins - I guess these count as cake.......
Biscuits - had a gingerbread man (with ds/s)
Crisps - no
Alcohol - no
Chocolate - no
Take aways - no

Kicking myself but will persevere for the rest of Lent now.....

Elasticwoman · 14/03/2007 09:36

Mumbo, sounds to me like you're doing brilliantly. I think it's better to give up shop-bought cake than all cake. Then when you want some, you have to make it.

All that washing up is so good for the soul. And I really should go and clean my oven too.
