hi, i started at the end of august and lost 2.5 stone by christmas.

it is really hard to get started, in someways you really have to hit rock bottom.

work out a realistic plan. i decided to stop eating bread and all crap. i still ate enough not to be hungry. work out why you are eating and try and avoid all the triggers.

last of all, start exercising you will have more energy and feel better about yourself.

i found reading 'the hungry years' by william leith really interesting. good luck and take care.

I think this is fairly common.

Don't start a new plan every day. Start the day after you've been shopping and bought loads of fruit and veg and enough stuff to actually plan a whole weeks Healthy menus from breakfast through to tea.

What sort of diet are you aiming to do? There are loads and they all work it's just a case of being able to stick to it thats the problem, so you need to find one that can slot easily into your lifestyle. personnally I like slimming world as you really can eat as much as you can manage, but you just have to make sure it's the right sort of food.

do you mean a ready made ww meal? as you are probably better off and also cheaper making your own. Then you know exactly what it is in it and can also do enough to give to the rest of the family.

I eat something small every hour or so. Fruit or nuts mainly.
I have a chocolate bar on a Friday, but I don't see it as a treat any more.
I drink LOTS of water because I think I had been mistaking thirst for hunger.
In the evenings I don't eat anything after 7pm.

try porridge in the mornings as it is really filling. if i just had fruit for breakfast i would be eating my own leg by 10. also i mostly eat soup for lunch, i saw a program the other night explaining how soup is great for weightloss as it remains in your stomach for longer. personally i don't rate cup-a-soups or processed food try making your own.

VioletBaudelaire · 06/02/2007 11:39

I agree that porridge is excellent for breakfast.
