I read so many threads here where people drop in a casual 'after loosing three stone' or some other unimaginable (to me) amount of weight lost. I'm two stone overweight & can't stick to a diet or exercise regime for more then a week. Can anyone inspire me?

loveulotslikejellytots well done for the forethought! It's very difficult to think "How will eating this make me feel later / tomorrow / next week?".

The more I read about weight loss / health the more I think it's about the mental aspect rather than the physical. The low fat craze certainly has not helped ( mainly because some people do better on lower carbs, but not everyone! ) as stated in this article.

It just says that any calorie restriction diet works; you've just got to find what you can do long term.

So it's all about self awareness, experimentation and persistence.

Crapping it about fitting in my wedding dress

Did a mix of 2.5 and slimming world.
Charlotte Crosby and Zumba DVD.
Got a good bum by everytime I went in the bathroom I did 10 squats if you pee 5 times a day that's 50 squats every day.
Bought myself something nice everytime I lost instead of food.
I also like my Pinterest board for motivation quotes my favourite is "don't reward yourself with food you are not a dog".

Lost two stone by cutting out dairy and processed carbs. Also a big fan of mindful eating. Eating till satisfied, not full and eating what you really are hungry for. No diet food here.

Discipline. That's it, that's the 'secret'.

I lost almost 4 stone nearly 2 years ago now. I have to be conscious of what and how much I eat, every single day, although I relax at weekends.

We came back from a 2 week holiday last week where I drank wine most nights, ate ice creams everyday, chips, choc croissants for breakfast, etc. I gained 5 pounds (very surprised actually, thought it would be a lot more). So the day after we came home and I'm in diet mode again and know I'll lose those pounds quickly. It does mean being strict, there's no denying that. For me, this week is very important. It's just so, so easy to regain (when you're an over eater), so you just can't take your eye off the ball at all.

I lost two and a half stone with Slimming World, and have been a target member for eight years.
It suits me because I have a big appetite, and the plan is healthy and not restrictive.
Buy a Slimming World magazine,Anna, and read the inspirational stories; also, the recipes and sample menu plans will give you an idea of whether you think it would suit you.
If you're interested, find details of your nearest group on the SW website.

I'm a rubbish dieter. Can never fully commit. However I now log everything I eat on my fitness pal and weigh myself every morning and wear a pedometer with the aim of doing 10000 steps a day. I don't keep rubbish food in the house but will happily eat a slice of cake when out with friends. For the first ever the scales are moving down, just 1 or 2 pounds a week and I have lost a stone already.
