I missed that but will watch if it's on tomorrow.
I've gone down nearly(!) 2 dress sizes over about 10 months using Paul Mckenna's techniques.
As i'm not really addicted to any one food I don't do the aversion thing, just concentrate on eating when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm full.
Did you try it? What did you think?

kslatts · 16/01/2007 11:02

I didn't see it but read Paul McKenna's book last monday and have lost 5ilb in the last wee.

cutekids · 16/01/2007 11:14

it's on at about 8.20 in the mornings.
he did the compulsion to revulsion thing this morning.it seemed to work for a while, but i've still eaten a packet of hula hoops since! do you just have to keep referring back to his technique or is it supposed to work permanently?!

When I read the book I didn't really use his techniques, but in it there are some success stories which I read, one lady was really big when she started and lost absolutely loads of weight. All I have followed are his 4 golden rules, which are:

  1. Only eat when you are hungry
  2. Eat whatever you want, not what you think you should be eating
  3. Eat slowly and enjoy every mouthful
  4. Stop as soon as you are full

Since reading the book I haven't finished a meal, the other thing I have noticed is that I don't think about food between meals, whenever I have dieted I was constantly thinking about my next meal.

Earthymama · 17/01/2007 10:06

ks, I agree it's the Golden Rules that work.
cute, I really think you need to concentrate at the beginning, you eat when you're hungry and that can be anything you want, so you don't beat yourself up over Hula Hoops!!

There aren't any forbidden foods, but you must be hungry, enjoy the food you eat slowly and STOP when you are full.

I'm sure I could lose weight more quickly but I love to cook and eat so this is ideal for me.

kslatts - 5lb in a week - well done!

I think I will try to follow tose rules. I do tend to wolf my food down. Will make a concious effort to slow down and enjoy it.

Do you have any hot tips? Have you really eaten what you want, not what you think you should?

LRWG · 17/01/2007 12:16

Sorry - those, not tose!

hello all, was just reading this thread cos I set up a paul mckenna one this morning too, it all seems to make sense doesn't it and when I think about my mum who is a size 10 and eats whatever she wants I realise that she is a naturalkly thin person who knows these rules and has always followed them - without realising it I wonder if it really is that simple but willing to give a go as I have tried every other diet under the sun and just feel deprived and undermine myself by cheating sooner or later

kslatts · 17/01/2007 15:13

I have only been following it for the last week so realise it's early days, but it is so easy. I really have eaten exactly what I want, twice in the last week I have felt hungry on the way home from work so I've bought a galaxy bar at the station and really enjoyed it, the best thing about it is because you are allowed to choose anything you want you don't feel guilty eating it. Before reading the book, I would eat a meal (especially dinner in the evening), get about half way though it and even though I was starting to feel full would clear the plate, afterwards I would feel so full I'd have no energy for the rest of the evening. I have yo-yo dieted for the last few years and have tried slimfast, slimming world and weight watchers and they all work for a while but then I give up and overall my weight has increased.

It really doesn't feel like I'm now on a diet and inbetween meals I am not thinking about food at all.

In a years time I hope to be able to say that reading Paul McKenna's book and applying the rule has changed my life.

Good luck.

Thanks kslatts - think I'll give those principals a go!
