Eat Less Food

Octopus37 · 09/10/2015 07:59

I know a lot of people have seen me on here on various diet threads which I am quite embarrassed about, but I have decided to keep it simple on my latest diet..... eat less food..... I am past thinking about carbs, calories, free food, what is good for you etc - none of this has got me anywhere. I have had a bug this week so have felt a bit off my food, so have eaten less than usual and can feel results, I have also only eaten the food I really want, rather than eating things cause I think I should etc. Thinking along these lines has worked for me before, but I know I got slated when I listed what I had eaten in a day, but to me this is the key to improving my shape and wellbeing with a view to getting back to my old weight after a tough 18 months. Think I have lost about 3 pounds this week, but will double check in Boots later, onwards and downwards

Yes DrHarleenFrances if you know yours (it's easy enough to buy a test kit ), also what you crave , which is not always what is beneficial for you, the older you get Grin

I've been on it for about 15 years and it's amazing. There are books (author is Dr. Peter D'Adamo) Facebook site, apps etc. It's not nec. for weight loss but it is for health.

I'm nearly the only one of my friends and family (younger and older) who has no health issues btw and it's not a coincidence Grin

TaliZorah · 17/10/2015 13:35

I'm interested in the blood type diet too. I'm type AB (apparently rare) and interestingly after googling it seafood is good for me, which is one of my favourites...

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2015 13:45

Oh my dd2 is AB and thinks it's all daft but is unwell and getting quite OW. She would really benefit from it. I help her as much as I can but basically have to keep my mouth shut Grin

When I went through it with dd1 she was pleased that the foods she loved were her beneficials as well, she follows it and is very happy she's an A type like me but she's a non secretor which makes things more complex.

TaliZorah · 17/10/2015 13:50

Any websites you recommend? I can find general info but I'm looking for something more concrete. :)

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2015 14:05

I'm on the FB site which is not much cop tbh run by a drippy woo woo type !!! Though she does answer questions and there are histories of people who are really happy they're on it, it's helped with their health etc. I get a monthly on line newsletter.

I'm not a great online type . You could get the books on Amazon I suppose. There is a Genome book which is his latest project.

I've got the Encyclopedia which is called EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR TYPE COMPLETE BLOOD TYPE ENCYCLOPEDIA By Dr Peter J D'Adamo

I love it because it helps with all the illnesses and the right foods and supplements to take for each blood type.

Octopus37 · 17/10/2015 16:08

Thanks for the tip on Nettle supplements, I will look out for them.

You're welcome octopus If I were you I'd take a look at my wheat intake because as soon as dh stops eating wheat he loses weight Grin. It's the gluten it glues your insides!!

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2015 16:16

Sadly it's like sugar, addictive!

Octopus37 · 18/10/2015 08:30

To be honest cutting out wheat wouldn't really fit in with my lifestyle. I have a DH and two boys and need to cook meals that are quick, easy, cheap and will be eaten by all. I am generally cutting down the amount I eat which I feel is working albeit gradually. Last night I went to a global buffet and I definitely ate less and in a more mindful way than I would have done previously. I just picked out the foods I really wanted to eat and took my time more. Obviously it is still a process and I will admit that I ate some crisps in a slightly less than mindful way yesterday but overall I am hopefully getting there.

You can get good rice pasta and pure rye breads now, we still eat toast !!! but IKWYM about cheap and quick.

Octopus37 · 20/10/2015 11:41

How is everyone doing. I am 3 more pounds down so pleased. Know it will slow down now. Also bought some nettle tea as they didn't have any supplements.

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 20/10/2015 13:22

Well done Oct Grin the nettle tea won't be as strong as the supplements, I like to mix it with mint tea because it doesn't taste of much, but still good.

wanderingwondering · 20/10/2015 15:53

Well I've had a week of trying my best to only eat when I'm hungry and to make sensible choices. Plus more exercise.
But weighed myself yesterday and no weight off. Will keep going and hope that the weight loss will follow

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2015 17:21

Do you STOP when you're full though wandering? I'm afraid even if you make entirely healthy choices but overeat them you won't lose weight sadly (I know that from personal experience Grin)

wanderingwondering · 20/10/2015 17:39

Hmm-that probably is where the problem lies-I really struggle with that. I'm going to try leaving something on my plate regardless to get out of the habit of clearing my plate. And slow down when I'm eating.

I did resist a biscuit esrlier by asking myself if i actually felt hungry or just wanted to change how I felt. Progress

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2015 17:50

Yaaay it takes time to educate your body. Have a glass of water or herbal tea when you get that feeling i find that works well ! I can't remember if you're into Paul Mackenna because he has a 'tapping' routine that removes cravings brilliantly!

wanderingwondering · 20/10/2015 18:33

Have skim read Paul McKenna and will revisit it in more detail asap.

Octopus37 · 20/10/2015 20:48

Trying not to worry about whether I have eaten too much today, have felt a bit picky but have done my best.

Nature valley bar
1 piece of Dairy Milk
2/3 of a Pret Cheese & Tomato Croissant
A crust of seeded bread with peanut butter
Some fish in batter (prob equivalent of about 2/3 of a fish - had to do an audit of the fish and chip shop)
8 Pringles

TBH ate the toast cause I have been struggling a bit with being bunged up (sorry TMI) and I felt that I needed it. Now I look at the food it is one of my heavier eating days but hopefully not too bad.

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 22/10/2015 11:37

The thing is Octopus It's quite possible not to eat ENOUGH food because just the act of digestion uses calories. If you follow the Paul Mackenna way of eating he says to eat slowly till you're just comfortably full and then STOP.

Oh another good way to lose weight is not to eat between the hours of 7.30 pm and 7.30 ish a.m.

Octopus37 · 22/10/2015 20:32

Yes I guess that could be true, although I would say that I am probably having enough. Sometimes I naturally don't eat between 7.30 and 7.30, but occasionally I might eat something in the evening. I will get there slowly. I'm imagining that in time I might fancy healthier food as well.

TaliZorah · 23/10/2015 13:07

So I've gained 3lbs somehow...I had 2 bad days where I ate my maintenance calories instead of below but I don't see how that would cause me to gain 3 freaking lbs. weirdly though I look skinnier. Wtf?

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2015 13:14

Are your clothes looser or tighter TallZorah? If they're looser maybe you've gained muscle weight or if not it's maybe time of the month.Grin.

I've never counted calories and lost weight on Paul Mackenna with no trouble.

TaliZorah · 23/10/2015 13:21

About the same ppeatfruit! Could be that time, I had a baby 8 weeks ago and haven't really had periods since so no idea when it will strike. That would explain why I feel a bit unwell too. The joy!

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2015 13:26

Oh please don't diet if you've just had a baby, esp. if you're bf. Enjoy it!!!!! Grin Congratulations Grin Flowers

Those effing celebrity mags and culture have a lot to answer for.

TaliZorah · 23/10/2015 13:32

ppeatfruit I'm not bf, I'm only 13lbs heavier than prepregnancy so trying to get back to normal but focusing on doing it slowly rather than being impatient.

Also using it as an excuse to get fitter, I've been trying to do 10,000 steps a day. I usually get 6,000-8,000 though
