Fecking Typical - I hate being so fat and I need to do something about it.

So on a never ending cycle of trying to do something new another fad I have tried Slimming World, Calorie Counting, Weight Watchers, vlcds, in all of them I just end up cheating and coming off them and thinking 'Fuck it' and then just going on a binge and eating badly again.

This is the heaviest I have EVER I lost 5 stone before I had dc but it has all crept back on again over the years.

I get inspired to give VLCD's another shot as the results are so fast but in the end I cave to something and give in. Currently the latest fad is 5:2 with a couch to 5K plan along side it, day two of the run and the treadmill I own has shit itself, fucking typical, so I have put my fat arse down on the sofa and surfing the internet instead. I could go out on the streets but feel to nervous doing it at night but like fuck would I do it during the day as I know I would get loads of 'OMFG - Check out the size of her !' :(

So I've come on Mumsnet to whinge about it instead and look for a kick up the arse - anyone willing to oblige ?

Running in the dark is great. Feels anonymous and easier. I do find I sometimes scare randy teens or park dog walkers but so much better than wobbling round in daylight hours. Have been offered cups sometimes but nothing sinister.

Roygrace · 22/09/2015 21:09

I hear you and am in similar position.

Real problems with binge starve too

I feel so less than over a certain weight

Here cheerleading you!

Not2bObvious · 22/09/2015 21:09

Why would I kick you when you're already kicking 7 shades out of yourself Wink If you can't do the treadmill and you really want to add some exercise to your 5:2 (how's that going btw?) what about an exercise dvd? Or try fitness blenders on YouTube. Maybe some kickboxing to get the temper out. I'm also on my 55th millionth attempt to shift 2-3 stone. Exercising a LOT but it's the diet that's the issue. Trying to do 1200 a day on mfp, aiming to save a few Cals each day for the weekend. Grim but not impossible. Hope you cheers up, you'll get therd

regenerationfez · 22/09/2015 21:13

I'm doing c25k too and its going fairly well, I'm up to week 7 but I'm not losing any weight, although I've got a lot fitter and feel my shape has changed. I keep losing track of 5:2 or eating too much on the non fast days. I was thinking of going low carb but that lasted until my friend invited me to the cafe!!

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 22/09/2015 21:31

This is me. This week is going ok and I'm hoping something has clicked finally. I'm exercising a bit but I think the main thing is food. I'm calorie counting on NutraCheck but giving myself a minimum of 1500 cals - I wouldn't stick to anything less. Fitting exercise in is tricky what with full time work, young DCs (currently poorly), marking and open evening. I'm pacing the house before bed to at least get 10k steps on my Fitbit.

Letmegetanamechange · 22/09/2015 21:54

I know exactly how you feel OP!

I lost 4 stone over a year before I unexpectedly fell pregnant with DD (now an adorable, excitable 2yo) and used it as an excuse to eat, eat and eat. I gained all the weight back on plus another stone and felt miserable.

Over the past 2 years I've tried to get back on the My fitness pal wagon (what I used when I lost weight the first time) but found I was just constantly hungry, even when eating 2000 calories.

My main problem is sugar binging! I was an addict. Each night I had to have some sort of sugar hit. Usually a tub of Ben and Jerry's!

I've just got past my first 2 months of Low carb high fat way of eating and I've lost 16lbs so far. So still just under 4 stone to lose until I get to pre-pregnancy weight which still puts me as overweight in terms of BMI

But I feel like this time I can stick to it! It's difficult not having sugar but I don't get the shakes when I fee like I just NEED it anymore.

Obviously low carbing doesn't work for everyone, but there will be something that does work for you. I think it's just getting that lightbulb moment where everything just clicks into place and makes sense Smile

Also (just to add to my long rambling post!) running in the dark isn't too bad! I've just gotten back from my fourth run of C25K which I'm doing with a friend who has similar goals to me. Do you have anyone you could buddy up with and go for a jog? I find it's nice to have that time to share how our life has been and catch up Smile

flanjabelle · 22/09/2015 22:01

I think I see where your problem is. When it goes wrong, instead of acknowledging it and continuing, you think its all ruined and give up. That was what I used to do.

This time I used mfp to log my calories and aimed for 1200 a day. Sometimes I fucked it up. I just logged it and moved on. Picked back up where I left off and continued aiming for 1200 calories. just because I had one bad day where I caved and ordered a takeaway didn't mean it was over. I lost three stone in about 7 months and am now 9 and a half stone, and I'm keeping it off.

You just need to keep picking yourself back up and moving on with it. The more you beat yourself up, the less likely you are to continue on the plan. One bad day shouldn't mean giving up. Log it, acknowledge it, and move on.

PaddingtonStareBare · 22/09/2015 22:44

Well after I typed that up, I snapped and got dressed in a light top told myself to Grow Up and Go.

Plugged in the podcast only for it to die 5 mins in Angry, so I thought 'sod it' and went out doing a run for 2 lampposts then walk for two and did that for 30 mins.

Got home and my legs are dead - I feel good for doing it though.

Fast day tmw. I'm going to carry on with the good intentions.

Thank you all for the support Flowers

Good for you!

But don't beat yourself up too much about the exercise - it only counts for 20% of weight loss, compared to 80% which is via diet.

If you're interested in low carbing, I'm starting the next Bootcamp on 12 October.

BabyGanoush · 22/09/2015 22:51

Good luck!

Count the victories, not the defeats

Roygrace · 23/09/2015 22:19

How's it going

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 23/09/2015 22:23

Im the same, but I dont have bad days I have bad weeks or months. I need to continue to do it (whichever 'it' I have decided upon) and not stop cos once I start the bad habit creep in and in and in. Ive had enough.

regenerationfez · 24/09/2015 11:13

I'd be interested in starting the low carb boot camp. what is it???

BIWI · 24/09/2015 13:46

Infor here, regeneration fez

regenerationfez · 25/09/2015 09:28

I've read up- count me in!

PaddingtonStareBare · 28/09/2015 00:00

Still in shock here.

I'm finding myself slipping in to a new routine ..........of exercise Shock

I dc to bed and leave dc reading their stories wave to DH to let him know I'm off at precisely 7:30 (dark enough to not be recognised but not to late to frighten myself) and I go out for a job/ walk for 30 mins, I've done it for a week now and the exercise is making me feel better still a whale and out of breathe after climbing the stairs but it's a start.

I might check out the boot camp too....

Oh and for the record I'm over 150kg Sad

PaddingtonStareBare · 29/09/2015 22:04

Thank you liveletlive Flowers

I've upped my running tonight and I have come back feeling tired but euphoric, long may it continue !

Just have to crack the crappy diet now. Is anyone else looking at the low carb boot camp ?

PellyAndMe · 30/09/2015 21:00

I'm looking in to the low carb boot camp- been reading the threads and thinking about giving it a go.

I lost some weight the beginning of this year- about a stone and half. Not thin by any stretch of the imagination but in size 14 stuff and feeling ok. Last couple of months have been really stressful- moved house, new job with quite a lot of travelling. Knew I'd put weight back on- but dear god. Weighed myself last night and I'm heavier than I was last Christmas. 14 stone 3, which at 5 foot 8 makes me officially obese going on my BMI. Never been obese before, bloody hell!!

The thing is I bloody love carbs. And alcohol. But I really think it would help to cut the carbs out- even when I lost a bit of weight I still carried excess on my belly and felt bloated a lot. At this moment in time it's bloody massive- it rests on my thighs and everything.
Have people that have done the boot camp before found it's helped with big belly syndrome? Will it be worth giving up the bread and beer (my fave things)?!

Letmegetanamechange · 30/09/2015 21:08

Pelly I weigh more than you and still have my unfortunate belly hang Blush but I've lost 17lbs on low carb and feel great! I do love bread but it hasn't been that hard to give it up as I've been eating some delicious food instead of the boring toast and sandwiches I would have had. I'm not a huge alcohol drinker so that's not been an issue for me, I'm not sure how it would have worked out for me if I was!

The only thing I find with low carbing is it's very unforgiving. It's not like calorie counting where you can have everything provided you stay within your calorie limit. There are foods (and drinks, obviously) that you just cannot have because of the way low carb works.

If you do decide to give low carbing a go I'd definitely recommend watching a documentary on YouTube called "Fat head". It's made by an American man who is classed as obese who looked into the myth of a low fat high carb diet. I found it explained the science of low carb (much more complicated than a calorie is a calorie IMO) that was easy to understand even for me!

PellyAndMe · 30/09/2015 21:14

Thanks for the vid tip- I'll watch it later. Think I may give it a go....

Re the alcohol, it won't do me any harm to lay off it for a bit. When I was losing weight this year I switched to gin and soda which I actually liked. But beer and red wine are nicerHmm.

17 pounds is ace! Bet your belly is decreasing rapidly. I just poked mine (in disgust) and it wobbled for ages. Wahhhhhh.

Letmegetanamechange · 30/09/2015 22:03

It's quite a long documentary though, brace yourself for cheesy cartoons Grin

I do actually think I look like I've gotten a little less sticky outy! Although the past stone and a half I gained I really noticed how different it made me look-stomach sticks out just as much as my boobs (which is not good as I am big of nork) and my knees were starting to ache. I literally felt like I had to hoist myself off the settee Sad

If you like cheese, salami and cauliflower then low carb is great Grin

I've found cauliflower is a great substitute for lots of carbs. Cauliflower mash, cauliflower rice, cauliflower cheese as a side to a steam with creamy mushroom sauce.

I did MFP for a year pre-DD and lost 4 stone but the food I ate back then wasn't half as tasty as the food I'm eating now Smile

PaddingtonStareBare · 04/10/2015 23:10

I'm still here waves

Thought I would check in again as it's been a little while since I wrote that first post and I keep rereading it thinking that that point when I wrote that is the turning point for me. I have been naughty thought and not gone for my run, but I blamed it on the rugby for Sat night and today I did go for a very long walk so exercise is slowly creeping in.

Roll on low carcarb bootcamp.
