Days off

I've started calorie counting last week, need to lose (at least) a few kilos. My calorie restriction is low as I am quite short ... and think I'm really going to struggle to maintain this every day.

I was wondering if those of you who have been there, done this, do you still lose some weight if you have a day off during the week? I know it will depend on how much you pig out on that 'day off' but I think I might stick with it longer if I have some respite. Just wondering if anyone had experience of losing weight this way. Thanks.

Sundays I have off. Always - I've never been "overweight" but I'm a funny shape so have to be light or I look pudgy. I'm trying to loose another half stone but I don't want to miss my Sunday meals- either dinner at mums with wine, pud and cheese or nandos with dp! I'm really good the rest of the week so don't see how it hurts IMO.

Saturday's are my day off.

Why dont you work out your weekly calorie intake you'd like and have less on 6 days and a bit more on one day?

You could look at the 5:2 also. that's 2 days really cutting down to 500 cal's (you could do this gradually) with 5 days sticking to your TDEE (the calories needed to maintain your weight)

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to stick below my TDEE and I tried 5:2 but didn't lose weight on it. It's a good idea to count my weekly total and perhaps split the calories with 1 higher day and 6 lower days, so I can eat a treat once a week or so. In practice I'm sure I'll go over, but as long as I am below my weekly TDEE hopefully I should lose weight.

I've been doing 5:2 for a couple of years.
I plan my food intake across each week and then across each year ....
24 weeks I fast strictly
24 weeks I fast roughly
4 weeks I do not fast

which means I still get to enjoy life
which makes the "strict" days easier to cope with.
