Stupid scales!

My scales tell me different weights on different areas of the floor Angry
This morning I've tried keeping them in one place and stepping on and off them a few times, and I got different results each time within a range of 5lbs! So I have no idea if my attempts are working.

I've completely cut out fizzy drinks, bread, pasta and rice and I'm eating 1200 calories a day (I'm very short), mostly meat and veg, minimal fruit as it took up too many calories. With the fizzy drinks and bread alone I've cut out a good 1000 extra calories a day, never mind the crap i was eating, so I thought I'd see a bigger difference (it's been a week). Even at the lower end of the 5lb range on my stupid scales it's still only about half a lb.

Maybe I should just wait till next week and see what happens. I don't know what to do about weighing myself, I like to do it first thing, nude, before eating anything so it's consistent, and I can't very well do it like that in Boots Grin

Hi Moo. Well done for making such big changes to the way you eat. I have lost 2 stone since January, still some to go but almost there.
I didn't see much of a change on the scales until the end of the second week and after that I often found that water retention etc due to monthly hormones would give a false impression of my progress. I think if you can measure yourself once a month (choose a good time for you hormone-wise) then it is often a better indication of how far you have come than scales anyway. It won't be long before your clothes are giving you the good news either Grin.
I always get weighed on our kitchen floor as its tiles on concrete, it seems to give more consistent results than the bathroom, which is also tiled but wood underneath.

Hiya MissT. To be honest I feel much better, less sluggish and much less bloated, which is great. I guess I'm expecting too much too soon. I'll definitely keep going, I can't give up this time as I've got 4-5 stone to lose before my wedding in just over a year, and I've read so many positive and inspiring stories about calorie counting working for people.

I live on the 2nd floor, I wonder if that has an effect on the floor under the scales? I do it in the kitchen as it's flat with no carpet but the floor itself is soft underneath.

Hi Moo, I feel your pain. Scales are a bastard. Now Im a shortsighted old lady I can't read the buggering things properly anyway.

As far as I'm concerned i've eaten nothing but salad since mid August - but my scales suggest otherwise! After 6 weeks of a diet that sounds remarkably similar to yours, but less meat I think I've lost a measily 8 pounds or so. A pox on it = I thought I'd be a size 12 by now ffs.

I too have 4-5 stone to lose. I'm happy to buddy up with you if that would help. I'm 15.5 stone now and to be honest if I get down to 12.7 I'll be chuffed to bits. I'm 5 foot 7 and a size 20- 18 (okay 6 weeks ago I was more of a solid 20)

Hi Mrs! Let's burn our scales together! I have cut out everything I love so I'd better start seeing some results soon! I'm 14st 1lb at the min, I'm 5ft 0 and I'd LOVE to get down to 9 and a half but would be thrilled with 10 or so. I'm getting my implant out this week as I mentioned on another thread, to see if that helps. I'm somewhere between size 16 and 20, depending where I'm shopping and what I'm buying Hmm

Mine do it! They need a totally flat surface.

To be honest measuring is better...my scales say no weight loss this week, I have trimmed almost an inch of my waist.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 14/09/2015 07:03

If mine are being temperamental I just take the lowest reading as correct Grin

Moochops89 · 14/09/2015 11:27

That's what I've done this morning Whoknew Grin

I wish I'd measured myself last week because I can see in the mirror I'm much less bloated. Also I think I'm coming on (very irregular due to implant) so that might be why. Hoping I'll have like a stone off by next Monday Wink

Well Moo we were talking on my other thread (about feeling like I was getting a cold!) and we started at the same point. (2 weeks ago right?) I STILL haven't been to weigh myself so have no idea of my progress, but...

I was a solid size 20 over the summer and it took a group photo with me in it to finally shock myself into dieting as I am the very biggest I've ever been in my life. I just couldn't bear the sight of my fat, bloated, double-chinned face!

Anyway, DH and I went shopping over the weekend and popped into Primark...I needed a new pair of jeans but debated over getting a size 20 or size 18 because I feel like I've lost weight but couldn't be sure. DH finally convinced me to get the 18's cos he said if I don't fit in them straight away, the way I'm going I'll soon get them on.

Yesterday I decided to try them on and...they fit me comfortably!! Grin Grin No sucking in or struggling!

So I think I might use clothes to chart my progress. I'm hoping that in another couple of weeks they start feeling a bit loose and eventually I'll have to go back and get a 16! I hope!

So maybe, ignore the scales, but use a piece of clothing as a way to chart your loss. It really was so rewarding to do those jeans up easily.

I was definitely a 20 (even some 20's felt tight! Blush) over the summer in Primark stuff so I don't think it's a case of the jeans varying in size, either.

In any case, I'm gonna use those jeans as my weightloss gauge.
