Diet and breast feeding

DS is nearly 7wks and is breast fed. I lost the baby weight almost immediately and am back to pre pregnancy weight, but that was about1.5stone overweight. I am keen to lose this weight, i feel like if i don't make a start now i never will.

However, i am HUNGRY! Ebf is clearly quite demanding. I have had real success with WW before but I low carb in conjunction and don't feel that's an option atm.

So, anyone got any tips or advice? I am currently eating :

B - large bowl bran flakes/porridge
L - sandwich - 3 slices. Crisps.
D - meat/fish veg spuds. Bolognese. Curry. Etc.
I am sacking in between a lot. The snacks are not good - Biscuits, chocolate, go ahead biscuits etc

Ideas for filling snacks appreciated.

I've found it better to ensure I have three proper meals where I'm full (even if some days this means a fry up!) which has really reduced my snacking and then only snacking on fruit and veg. And nothing after dinner. I've also upped my veg and am avoiding processed foods (but not denying myself the odd bit of cake!)
I found getting myself in the mindset of not needing extra calories for bf and eating just what I ate previously has helped.
I've lost the three stone I put on and am about 8lbs off my target (never lost my honeymoon weight!)

THanks dragon. I know what do do if you exclude the baby and bf, and the extra hours awake!

I think you're right, the snacks need to go really. Another problem is that once i stop bf, if i carry on eating like this i will PILE weight on so i need to address it sooner rather than later.

Well if it makes you feel better my ds is 6 months now and have been weaning for a while as he's a big baby. As we increase food I've naturally felt my appetite drop. I've not had that OMG must eat food now for a quite a while.
I tell you though, whoever said bfing was the answer to loosing baby weight, and that it just falls off was lying!

You need to eat fat. Real butter, avocados, cheese. Cook with coconut oil and use olive oil as well. Fat will give you the energy you need, and will provide the satiety that carbs do not give. Prepare plenty of crudit??s and keep them covered in the fridge. Buy pots of hummus and use those to nibble on - loads of nutrients and very filling. Get a waterbottle and drink that throughout the day as well - you need to stay hydrated!

Real, whole food fats will not make you fat. :) Sugar and processed carbs will, and they rob your body of nutrients.

Agree with raisen!

I don't think snacking is a bad thing but you should use it as a chance to nourish yourself. Why not go along the lines of-

Breakfast- overnight oats soaked in full fat milk with blueberries and cinnamon

Snack- 2 x eggs scrambled in coconut oil and half an avocado

Lunch- large mixed salad sprinkled with feta and sunflower seeds

Snack- cup of full fat Greek yogurt with a chopped banana, flaked almonds and a drizzle of maple syrup

Dinner- chicken drumsticks sprinkled with Himalayan salt, pepper and roasted in the oven without oil accompanied by decimal fried cauliflower rice OR roasted sweet potatoes and salad

Snack- home made chocolate pot/mousse (mix cacao powder, coconut oil, hazelnut butter and maple Syrup for chocolate and mix into a blended avocado for a mousse)

That menu sounds great! I am going to try for better snacks (like those you suggest) and salad lunch. I do like overnight oats too. Its just the food prep i struggle with a bit with the baby

Snap nottalotta!: My baby is 7 weeks and I've lost most of the pregnancy gain but have pre preg podge to lose. Finding it hard with ebf, I'm hungry and tired!!x

DD is 10 weeks and I'm currently on a mission to do the same thing. I am starving while breastfeeding and had been eating a large chocolate bar a day Blush.
Like a PP I'm trying to eat 3 really good meals and cut out the snacks. Yesterday I had porridge with blueberries and a banana, jacket potato with tuna and sweet corn and a side salad for lunch and a wholemeal wrap with chicken, onion, tomatoes, peppers, avocado and sour cream for dinner. In between meals I'm filling up on water and green tea. I lost 3lbs last week with this approach and haven't been too miserable!
