I'm doing calorie counting with a loose SW theme (so thinking about combinations of food & trying to make healthy choices, not just low-cal).

I know once I've got the first week under my belt I'll adjust to it but dear me it's tedious.

I love food. I love snacks. I love wine. I love cake.

I'm trying to convince myself I will love bring slimmer more.

Motivate me?

Tell me tales of how you lost stacks of weight. Short time frame and no saggy skin stories are also welcome.

Thanks in advance.

OP I am one of those people who says no to a biscuit just because I don't want one. :) I do mindful eating and have done for 10 years plus and stock my kitchen with lovely food and eat when actually properly hungry. I actually like ryvita too with real butter and blueberry jam or used for scraping up Moroccan hummus. Yum.

God I DREAM of being you!

Going to leave this thread for tonight as it's making me hungrier Grin

Thought I'd check back in after the wonderful support I received earlier in the week.

Firstly - I've adjusted to the hunger! So that's good news. I'm not constantly craving food. There's even an open can of Pringles in the house which I've resisted.

The weekend will be a challenge. This is usually when we eat out, get pizza in, have some drinks etc. We've both decided to go alcohol free for a few weeks.

I also did something which made sense at the time but now realise was incredibly stupid. I didn't weigh myself at the start of the week. My logic was if I weigh myself next week I will definitely have lost some weight to climbing onto the scales for the first time in ages won't be as traumatic. Of course that means I won't get that lovely first week Buzz.

Anyway, I can tell already I've lost something - my stomach looks less bloated already.

So thanks for your wise words earlier in the week - I'll get there.

Well done, it sounds like you're doing brilliantly! Weekends were a struggle for me for a while but recently something has clicked and I'm finding them easier every week. You'll get there eventually Smile

Mydearchild · 01/05/2015 20:18

I remember the first few weeks having an almost pain in my chest where I was craving to stuff my face. In the past I always gave in but I never ever felt happier so this time I saw it through. I swear it gets easier & although weight loss can be slow it's bloody lovely now to wear what the hell I want instead of what will cover my fat arse (I swear I carry all my weight in my butt!) glad to hear you've managed to find it easier. The other thing I found hugely helpful was the weightloss support on Instagram Smile

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 03/05/2015 18:05

Going to weigh myself tomorrow as that'll be exactly a week. As said ^^ I didn't weigh myself last week because I had a logic malfunction so will be interesting (to me!).

I do feel less bloated but get this: I've just put on my long boots which I always struggle to zip up but they went on really easily. I'm staggered that 6 days of starvation eating carefully has already made a tangible difference. I really am amazed. I wasn't expecting to notice anything so soon. In fairness I do have quite a bit to lose so that's probably why but still!

The weekend hasn't been too awful either.

I spent most of yesterday browsing online success stories so that was pretty inspiring. Does anyone know any blogs or websites where they put pictures on regularly to show progress over a period of time rather than just start/end weights?

Thanks again all.

Bollocks. Weighed myself this morning and I'm the heaviest I've ever been - dread to think what I would've been last week before starting.

Farkinghell!

Keep going though onwards & downwards! Honestly get an Instagram acct if you haven't already and hashtag slimming world & weightwatchers. There are some utterly amazing women there who have lost tons of weight & the progress pics are such motivation. The only way is slowly & just keep chipping away xx

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 04/05/2015 09:14

Yeah I'm going to start photographing myself.

The thing which started this was ordering a dress which came last week and squeezing into it with every lump, bump and roll on show - it will be perfect for doing a week by week or month by month picture diary.

So yes, going to get a full length mirror and an instagram account Smile

What worked for me:

Think about what healthy foods you genuinely enjoy.

I love eggs and tuna.

I love steak.

I love salad.

I try to eat these foods as often as possible each week in different combinations.

I try to stay away from carbohydrates (except boiled pots) and anything processed.

Ok I rarely manage it for a full week but it helps me cut back.

If you fall of the wagon it's ok. Even if you are making an improvement of say 50 per cent over the week on your eating habits you should see this as a great achievement.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 04/05/2015 09:29

Yeah - I genuinely like healthy food such as fish & veg or chicken & salad so meals are easy - just keep an eye on portion size.

It's bread, snacking, puddings and wine I need to get a hold of and ensuring I plan ahead so I dont end up grabbing a pasty on the run.

How are you getting on? I've had a horrendous weekend food-wise. Back on the wagon today.

I use Instagram too and find loads of weight loss inspiration on there. I think I'll spend some time this morning re-motivating myself Grin

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 05/05/2015 08:57

Ok on Sat/sun but we spent the day at a relative's yesterday and I tried my best to track/portion control but I'm not sure how I did.

Your weight loss seems impressive but realistic too.
I've noticed I'm not craving sweet stuff/carbs so much. It's more of a general awareness that I'm hungry Grin but this seems to be easing too - hopefully I'll beat the hunger feeling over the next few weeks. Some days are definitely better than others so I think as well as tracking what I eat, I'll track how "full" I feel too.

Going to do my first instagram tonight too - going to keep my account private at first until I work it out and try and follow some inspirational peopls too.

Oh and I made my family all get on the scales too as I couldn't believe the ridiculously high number. They all think it's accurate. Bugger.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 05/05/2015 08:59

Missed half my post off?

Anyway, I meant to say Felix whatever you're doing us obviously working and that "get back on the wagon" approach is the best to have rather than "aaargh I've blown it so bring on the mars bars" Grin

OP posts:
FelixFelix · 05/05/2015 09:12

I am Grin at making the whole family get on the scales. We have some super fantastic ones that do body fat and everything and DP delights in telling me 'ooh I'm only 0.00000001% body fat' every time he uses them. Bastard.

Just remember you're doing something about it now, so ignore the fact you weigh more than expected!

Minimins is a good forum for weight loss. Loads of people use it and there's different sections for each diet. I spend ages on there browsing people's diaries etc. so may be worth a look.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 05/05/2015 09:17

Oh I'll have a look there - I'm a sucker for the pictures taken in the same outfit over a period of time articles.
