I'm trying out MFP as I've become a bit fed up with SW, still trying to figure out all the nutrition things etc on it though.

I've been given a daily calorie allowance of 1650 and having put all my food in for today I've used 1284.

This is the nutritional stats (pictured), obviously I'll work on building up the vitamins but I'm a bit miffed by the red bits which obviouy mean I'm having more than recommended for some bits but how much does it matter?

You will still lose weight but it's a good idea to make sure you don't go too far over as your diet won't be balanced. Please eat some more calories also, less than 1300 on a regular basis is not good for you. It will likely be below your basic metabolic rate and your body will be unable to carry out all its essential functions. You get calculators online to calculate your basic metabolic rate, try and make sure you eat at least that many calories after exercise calories have been deducted.

Thanks :)

I'll definitely be tweaking my eating a bit to bring it more inline with the advised nutritional amounts, I'm just so used to thinking in terms of "free foods" and "syns" rather than actual calorie and nutritional content so I'm a feeling a bit clueless.

I've got 2st 5.5lbs to lose before I get to a healthier weight range and although I've lost 4st 8.5lbs so far I feel that I've done it without actually learning how to control my food intake which is obviously not a sustainable approach!

Have just done a metabolic rate calculator, it gave me an outcome of 1538 calories.

Does that mean that I should be eating that as a minimum guideline?

Sorry for daft questions :)

Yup, that should be your minimum average calories (after exercise calories are deducted). The odd day below won't harm you but that's the minimum calories that your body needs to perform all its essential functions.

Forgot to say do a recalculation every half stone loss as your bmr will decrease slightly as your weight does. The less you weigh the less calories it takes to perform the same functions.
