Cambridge Diet Counseller very overweight - bit off putting

Hello
I have a fair bit of weight to lose - over 5 stone to get to ideal weight. Decided to do cambridge for a month and then go to slimming world. I want some fast results to get my motivation going.

Met counseller last week. She has before and after photos on her website which show her as very overweight (before) - and super slim (after). I walked in the room and she was nearly same size as me. During conversation I gently asked her if she still uses cambridge - and she replied that she does but just for breakfast or lunch as she has re-educated herself about eating and only makes positive choices.

Am I being shallow in letting this put me off? She wanted to sell me a fortnights worth of cambbridge because she might not have any appointments next week - I said Iwill just have a week supply because not sure if it is going to suit me.

Does anybody else have experience of cambridge - and are most counsellors good examples of cambridge working?

Thank you. That sounds like a fairly sensible weight loss in the vlcd world. I had a dream last night that I lost 4 stone and it felt amazing Grin

My friend went from 20 stone to 13 on Cambridge. Guess what she weighs now, yep 20 stone!

She's put it all back on in less than a year. I'd crack on with SW and save your money.

TheCowThatLaughs · 15/04/2015 21:32

If you've got 5 stone to lose, then hopefully the initial weight loss on SW will be fairly dramatic anyway Smile

If you want to see results quickly try a low carb diet.

I joined SW mid May last year and I'm 5 stone down now and a healthy BMI. I've had a few holidays and a big birthday plus various big family events during my loss time too. It works out as 1.5lb/ week average loss for me over my entire loss period.

I walk a fair bit and mess about in the swimming pool with my three DC but haven't yet set foot in a gym. I own a bike and went out on it once last year. Keep meaning to get it sorted so I can tow DD.

Lots of slimming world threads going for support. Lots of other supportive weight loss threads too. Low carbing worked for me for awhile but didn't work as well as Slimming World does for feeding the whole family.

wombat on the SW threads has lost 4.5st in 23 weeks. So it can happen quickly if you're really dedicated.

If you want speedy weight loss-

Only eat between the hours of 7.30pm and 7.30. am

Give up all caffienne (but drink lots of unsweetened herbal, not fruit , teas) and still water. Especially when you feel hungry.

Don't mix protein and heavy carbs. at the same meal.

Eat fruit when you're hungry not straight after a meal

Give up wheat. But you can eat wholegrain rice, rice pasta etc. non wheat ryvitas etc.

Oh and go on the Paul Mckenna too!! That's slower but will help maintenance.

I lost a stone very fast doing the above and wasn't intending to. Oh and with no extra exercise, gym or running etc.

EggInABap · 16/04/2015 10:07

When I started SW in January I was a bit perplexed to see the leaders were much bigger than me! Needless to say I didn't do very well!

I'm following Paul Mckenna now and loving it. Not even thinking about food most of the time it's great.

I did a VLCD twice, it was slim and save. Lost all the weight then put even more back on. I blame it for completely messing up my metabolism.

ppeatfruit · 16/04/2015 10:33

Sorry Blush I meant only eat either side of the hours 7.30.am and 7.30. pm You can drink though (not alchohol though!)

The Cambridge Diet is just another pyramid selling scheme as was popular with say water filters in the 80’s. the product is totally unpalletable, but relies on the ‘advisor’ buying so much product upfront then selling it on at an heavy mark up. My wife & I did it for 4 weeks, then realised that if you simply stick to a keto diet of 1000 K per day for men or 800 K for female the results are the same.
