so after Christmas I tried really hard and lost some pounds

then I got ill so had to eat a high salt diet (as recommended by my doctor) and stopped doing exercise as too tired

now the pounds are back on and I feel awful, no cake , chocolate and spirits for 6 weeks and I feel like a big pound of lard, but all the motivation has gone. I'm scared to weigh myself to see how much is back on

any tips?

You just need to draw a line, pluck up some courage and get on the scales. Then you need to focus on the future. Why do you want to lose weight? Is it for health reasons? For your appearance? Your confidence?Do you have a short term goal you can focus on. A wedding, holiday or a special occasion. Think to where you would like to be in a couple of months time. Do you have friends who want to lose weight and can support you? Would you consider joining a slimming group? Once you've got your head in gear and see the weight starting to come off then hopefully your motivation will increase. It's just that first step that's the hardest.

thanks, I want to it back into my clothes again and get rid of my muffin top.

unfortunately I have no close friends to lose weight with, if I had someone to go to a class with that would help so much

dh is very thin and eats rubbish so he's no help

I think you just need to accept that you are human and you're not perfect.

If weight loss was easy then obesity just wouldn't exist.

Everyone who tries to lose weight falls off the wagon at some point. I know I have.

Just think to yourself, I don't want to feel like this anyone therefore tomorrow I will make better choices.

You don't have to weigh yourself at all. Wait until you are back on track.

I always think to myself when reaching for chocolate ... I deserve better, my body deserves better. What is chocolate going to do for me? Nothing. I don't need it. If I'm really that hungry I can make a better choice.

Start today. Get on the scales and see where you're at.

You don't need friends to lose weight with. This is a permanent lifestyle change that you need to get your head around, not a quick fix.

First - get back on My Fitness Pal, 1200net cals a day, log everything.

Eat proper food only - fruit, veg, whole grains, whole milk, cheeses, eggs, meat, etc. No "diet" sugar-filled processed stuff, nothing with "low-fat" written on it.

And exercise. At least 45 mins a day, even if that's just a fast walk round the shops, or a DVD when the children are asleep. If you build up, in a few weeks or months you'll be running five or six miles in that 45-min slot.

I've just lost a stone and a half doing all the above and have never felt better than I do now. Good luck!
