Ok- I have had some recent health issues and given option of HRT by GP. Have decided to hold off on that for a few months and trying to sort myself out. I just dont fanny having patches stuck on my a**s for the forseeable future.

One factor in my chronic fatigue must be my weight. I know all about losing weight healthily in order to maintain it etc - and I intend to do that. I am building up my exercise (slowly)

But - I would like a quick start to get me going - so thinking Cambridge or Herbalife - any opinions please. I thought if I can do one of these for a month or so then I can plufk up the courage to go to Slimming World.

The only thing is though if you do say something like Cambridge for a month will you not just put weight back on when you start eating proper food when you start up at Slimming world?

I lost 3 stone last year (have put 1/2 a stone on over winter so am away to sort my self out and try and shift that 1/2 stone plus another stone this year)
I started off by trying to get 10k steps in every day just walking and it did make a difference to me from there I added a coulple of excercise classes once i had built up my fitness a bit.
It is the food bit i find so tricky but if you can get through 2 -3 weeks and break a lot of your bad eating habits it is easier to keep going-its the starting off that is tough though. (I say that after having a couple of failed attempts and losing again this year and came on here tonight to get some motivation!)
Good luck.Flowers

I am currently doing the cambridge diet. My 4th weigh in is on Wednesday and I expect I will have lost 1 1/2 stone in 4 weeks. It's an amazing diet and to be honest I don't want to stop yet. I have about 4 stones to lose.
I set my target to 3 1/2 stone with my consultant. My plan is to change to either cals counting or slimming world for the last bit.
When I get near to my target with cambridge you do a step progress to ensure you don't regain the weight you have lost when returning to normal food.
I can't tell you how much better I feel, losing the weight really gives you a boost.
However, it is not for everyone. You do need to be very disciplined, but it depends how much you want it.
Any other questions please feel free to ask!

Thanks both
CocoCandyFloss- I know exactly what you mean about putting the weight on if do cambridge or similar - but I feel I have got to a stage where I know I want to lose it but I need a bit of a quick result to further motivate me. It is such hard work isn't it - thanks for the flowers Smile

Oxfordmum - that is great news - well done to you Smile. are you on sole source? I am a bit worried about that and am thinking of doing the one where there is a small meal allowed. Just trying to be realistic about what is going to work.

I think will give it a go - I have already made some small changes - abstaining from alcohol and chocolate - and trying not to pick at snacks all day - difficutl in my workplace - we are all snackers!

Yes, on SS.
For me it was a all or nothing. I needed to stop all food. When I start to eat again I want to choose the right food. Hope you know what I mean! Had major issues with picking all day, this way I have learned I don't need to eat anything else. But you need to do what is best for you, you need to make it work. The first week is hard, but after you first weigh in its such a boost to
Keep going.
Well done on your changes so far, hope you find a good consultant. Best advice too is cut back on the carbs.
And good luck! You can do it if you stay focused!

TBH with any of the gimmick diets you will have to lose the weight again in a few years time.

As your motivation :
(1) take a selfie in bra and pants. Print it and stick to the inside of your wardrobe door.
(2) measure yourself all over - bust, waist, hips, neck, thighs, upper arms, shoe size, ring size - and write it all down. Stick it to the door with the selfie.
(3) Find a picture of you at your happy weight, or if you cannot find one, pick one of the people off here
www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.html who is nearest to you in age and build
or a sleb to genuinely aim for - mine is Jo Wiley

and finally
Get a really strong BIG bag. Take the bathroom scales into the kitchen.
Load the bag with 5 stone of tins and food packets.
Carry it around the house - including up the stairs - for a few minutes.
Put it down.
How good does that feel?
Imagine putting down that weight every second of every day. Grin

Go for it.

Dukan diet.

Meat/ protein for first four five days then begin adding veg.

I wouldn't do Cambridge, or any of the "dust" diets. Been there done that, you'll fuck your metabolism the weight will go straight back on as soon as you stop and you'll end up beating yourself up for your perceived failure.

I know it's boring but old school exercise and low carb will sort you out. I've lost two stones and two pounds since January, with loads of exercise and a lc diet. It feels more permanent than a vlcd and my body shape has definitely changed. Good luck!
