Thanks to everyone, after weeks of lurking here, i fianlly started the CD on sunday and i've lost a few pounds already. But i woke up today with a headache that refuses to go away?

Is it ok to take a painkiller or is that extra carbs/calories that i should avoid?

I really want an aspirin right now.

headache might be dehydration. try drinking some water and see if it helps.

laughinglil · 25/10/2006 14:46

a paracetamol or two won't hurt don't worry as long as its not a sugar coated one. Drink some more water and try and rest. You are getting into ketosis now thats why you may have a headache. Stick with it though its worth it!

I had a stinking headache until day 4. Painkillers are fine to take too. My CDC said it is your body detoxing.
This diet is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm on my 6th week and have lost almost 2 stone.
All The best !

Thanks, aspirin really helped. i went for a screening for 'a good year' and after a lot of coaxing from my very evil freind not to mention hunger, I took a bite of her hot dog.

I feel guilty but I need to move on. I don't really like the soup flavours i have tasted so far though.

What are your favourite soup flavours?

Sadly even a bite can knock you out of ketosis, and you have to go through the headaches and feeling crap all over again.Ive been there a couple of times at the start too!! Dont let it ruin your diet, just put it behind you

Im not keen on the soups very much-I like Oriental Chilli and Vegetable the most.

I mainly stick to hot shakes, and I mix half a flavour with another half, say strawberry with vanilla, banana with toffee and walnut etc
They are yummy!
The Tetra Bricks really help when going out too, so you pop one in your bag and when you need to eat something-it's there!
Hows your head today?

good for you for starting the diet. The first couple of weeks are the worst - but it is easier after that.

I felt well rough - it is a combination of detoxing - but I also reduced my caffine a lot. But it does get better like everybody says. Agree about water as well - drink loads.

My favs are the tetra pack shakes - especially chocolate. I also like the cranberry bars. I love the spicy tomato, chilli and chicken and mushroom soups. But I add loads of black pepper and tabasco. good luck on the diet - it does get easier.

I have just e mailed my local counsellor about starting this diet. Can you tell me how it works as in payment etc? Do you pay week by week? Can you start straight away?

Wisp · 28/10/2006 10:57

Yes you can start the day you meet the CDC providing you haven't eaten that day. Also it depends on the medical questionaire they will do.
You pay per week per shake, so I pay £33 for all my foodpacks- which is alot cheaper than what I was spending on usual "food"
Good Luck!

Evil day yesterday. SIL and i took five kids out to eddie katz for a party and then went to the hosts house. after 2hrs of commuting and 7hrs of party on an empty stomach, I gave an ate a slice of cake.

This triggered some mad response in my brain and I ended up having seven slices. I was pathetic. I'v now added one rule to this diet - no social or family events until christmas.

Oh no Finefatmama!! Those sorts of things especially when you are wanting food are a nightmare!! After a couple of weeks things get so much easier and you can shut out thoughts of food alot easier. I sat and watched my family have a meal last night, sat through them scoffing pizza, and I wasn't even tempted-I had a tetra pack in my bag-and I had frozen it, so ate that with a spoon and it was lovely !!
Put yesterday behind you, drink loads of water and hopefully it wont show on weigh in

QuootieSpookypie · 29/10/2006 09:18

Hijack - i take it this diet is a no no while BFing? Sounds good! I have tons to lose...

lucy5 · 29/10/2006 09:21

I 'm not on Cambridge but always get a headache when I start a diet. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

Wisp · 29/10/2006 13:15

Hi Quootie, Yep it's a no no whilst breastfeeding sadly.
It's a vlcd (Very low calorie diet) of about 400 kcals a day, but nutritionally complete. You have to drink at least 4 litres of water a day too. Your body goes into ketosis and after a couple of days there's no hunger, and you feel full of energy. The average weight loss is a stone per month.
Its so motivating to see 4lbs drop off every week, and fast results compared to most other diets. I just wish I had found this diet sooner, as I had already lost 3 stone, Im halfway through losing another 3 stone.

finefatmama · 30/10/2006 21:32

weigh in was not too bad (could've been better). I lost 5.5lbs. I was very cross when CDC said three and a half 'but you're wearing jeans'. so i ran off to change into lighter clothing and got weighed again. there was lots of change in my jeans pocket too.

This week, I'm hoping to improve and introduce good exercise.
