Deliciously Ella - anyone followed her diet?

Hi all
Have put on a stack of weight - I eat continuously and crave sugar. I am starting to feel like it's affecting my health - am breathless, low energy, knees hurt. Anyway have bought the deliciously ella book which is plant based, no meat but lots of veg grains fruit.
She doesn't count calories - a lotnof the food is stuff dieters would traditionally avoid like avocado, nut butter, tahini. But I think the theory is you eat really good quality healthy food and not choc or crisps or bacon sarnies. So no refined sugar/carbs.

Was wondering if anyone had done it and how you got on.

No sorry but I have reserved the book so interested to see if you get any replies. I am not veggie/vegan but I thought it would be a good way to introduce a bigger variety of healthy veg based meals.

If your not vegetarian there are crossovers with clean & lean, paleo, Zoe Harcombe etc where the main focus is cutting out sugar and processed food etc and lots of people lose some weight using these methods without counting calories.

Thanks for the reply. I am quite happy to give up meat but don't want to give up fish.
I am worried about replacing sugar with things like raw honey, which is still sugar at the end of the day, evrn if it's better sugar. Also worried about calories from nut buttet etc. It takes sone getting used to, the idea of not counting calories and eating high cal but healthy food.

I grew up with the idea that it didn't really matter where calories came from in terms of being on a diet - that you could eat a Mars bar or 2 bananas and it was only total calories that counted

It is really confusing about sugar and calories but I really don't think it is as simple as calories in and out either. I think go for the path of least resistance and if necessary you can reduce things like honey later once your body is used to the new woe?

I have the book and do like the look of the recipes but I am not sure it would be useful for weight loss - more of a health kick or lifestyle but it can be quite carby - there are a lot of grains and sweet things in the book - which could trigger a sugar response.. I would say that the low level of protein would make me quite hungry and so I think I would probably use some of her recipes in another diet plan if I was focused on losing weight - she was already very slim when she started this food plan to address some chronic health issues - not sure it has been shown to lead to weight loss?
