Xenical?

Not sure whether or not to go to the GP and ask him about this. For people who are on it, did you have to persuade the GP to put you on it or were they happy to put you on it. I am too nervous to go incase he just tells me to eat less!

My BMI is 30, so I'm just in the catagory to be allowed it.

Also I'm not sure if it would help me or not. I eat healthy main meals. The problem is I tend to snack inbetween. Sometimes because I'm hungry, but more often than not because I'm craving carbs or sugar. I don't really think its comfort eating as I'm not eating due to boredom or depression, just becasue I really, really want a bar of chocolate and have no will power. Will xenical help by stopping me eating rubbish (I hear if you do eat rubbish you regret it on the loo the next day, so maybe this will be the motivation I need)! ?

I can't afford Lighterlife, etc as I'm a student.

If you eat rubbish it won't have you on the toilet the next day-it'll have you rushing to the toilet immediately.
I haven't tried it myself, but my mum and a friend of mine are both on it and have lost a fair amount of weight, but if you start having fatty foods whilst on it,the side effects are horrendous. How much do you normally spend on food a week? I was on the Cambridge Diet earlier this year(very similar to LL)and lost nearly 4 stone in 4 months on it,and found it an excellent diet for shifting weight fast, although it won't educate your eating habits longterm.I still have lots to lose but am now pg,so I'm not dieting, but after I have the baby I shall go back on the diet,as I know it works, for me.It does cost £34 a week which at first I thought was expensive, but that is all your food packs for the week, and I worked out Iwas spending alot more than that beforehand, when I went to Sainsbury's.hth.

I only spend £40 a week on a family shop for 3 of us. If I spent over £30 just on me I wouldn't be able to feed DH and DD on less than a tenner. No way I can afford it. Maybe xenical would help to change my eating habits.

I think it'll help. But are you the kind of person who will stick at the good eating after? If so, it might be the kickstart you need. I will be on it after I stop bf; am now in a quandry, torn between carrying on, or getting my body back to myself
(I got mine brought back from abroad for me )

I also think it's probably worth a try then and is alot cheaper than the CD.I know when my mum first started on it she had a few "cheats" and certainly paid for them. She's now learnt her lesson and says one of the main reasons she now sticks to it properly is because she's scared of the consequences.
Give it a go-you've nothing to lose...except some weight.Good luck!
